V officially released his photobook titled TYPE 非 on the 19th. This marks his second work, following the release of TYPE 1 in 2024. While the previous project captured simple, candid moments of everyday life, this time V turns his focus to the concept of “non-fixity” (非고정성) — an idea that transcends all boundaries of form and genre.
V was deeply involved in every stage of the project, from conceptual development to the entire filming process, ensuring that his personal aesthetic vision was fully and vividly realized. The photobook spans 278 pages across 20 chapters, intricately connected like an emotional flow. Each chapter, with its distinct concepts and staging, showcases different facets of “artist V” — a figure who refuses to be confined to any single category or standard.
To commemorate the release of the photobook, an offline exhibition titled “V TYPE 非 : ON-SITE IN SEOUL” was held at Frieze House Seoul from January 20 to February 1. The exhibition featured both a display zone and a media art zone. Visitors were guided through the emotional narrative of the photobook, allowing them to experience the work in a visual and multidimensional manner, while also gaining access to previously unreleased images and videos available exclusively on-site.

Among these was a performance scene featuring V alongside a pixelated green frog character, which has since gone viral on social media. Fans initially flooded online platforms with jokes, humorously referring to it as V’s first on-screen kiss. The topic even began trending on X after visitors to the exhibition shared recorded clips of the video.

However, beyond the initial amusement, fans soon began to recognize the deeper artistic intention behind the scene, directed and performed by V himself. In one ARMY post that received widespread support from fellow fans, it was noted: "The imagery of Taehyung being ‘swallowed by a toad’ is deeply symbolic, tied to themes of transformation, liminality, and confronting the grotesque as a gateway to rebirth.”
Going further, a major fan account with the ID @taeguide shared a more in-depth analysis of the concept through the lens of Carl Jung’s psychology and Nietzschean philosophy. As stated in the post: “Swallowing a toad or frog means to swallow the lowliest in oneself Acceptance of the ‘Shadow’ (Jungian): In Jungian psychology, being swallowed by a toad symbolizes integrating the ‘shadow’, accepting the lowest, most despised, or repressed parts of oneself, which is necessary for personal growth and transformation.”
When individuals dare to confront and accept these imperfect aspects of themselves, the psyche becomes more humanized and balanced. The more one despises or denies personal weakness, the further one distances oneself from the self. True wholeness can only be achieved when we integrate our lowest parts — emotions that are often rejected, suppressed, or condemned as negative.
Jung observes, "The first attempt of nature towards making something like a man ... so they are symbols for human transformation." And they reveal transformative qualities by metamorphosing from waterborn tadpoles to amphibian adults. This serves as a symbol of rebirth and ascension to a higher state of being.

On the other hand, the image of the frog in this video also evokes the fairy tale The Frog Prince. A creature regarded as lowly and despised, once accepted and loved, transforms into a prince. Thus, the frog becomes a symbol of a familiar truth: only by accepting what is deemed inferior or frightening can one move toward a higher state of existence.
Rather than rejecting it, V chooses to “kiss” or allow himself to be swallowed by the frog — a symbol of what is considered lowly, marginalized, or cast aside. This act represents the process of integrating one’s “shadow,” demonstrating full acceptance of an imperfect self in order to achieve rebirth and unlock true artistic potential. This lies at the very core of the TYPE 非 ethos: the rejection of fixity, the refusal of a single, linear identity, and the embrace of an ever-evolving state of existence.
This profound artistic vision left fans in αωє, prompting them to recognize V’s boundless creativity and the depth of artistic value he brings. One fan commented, “Taehyung never does anything without thought.” Others echoed their admiration, saying: “I knew it had to mean soмєтнing profound,” “He is so deep and intelligent,” “The artist you are Taehyung,” “His mind never ceases to amaze me,” and “I seriously love the depths of philosophy this man brings us to.”
