According to an announcement from Big Hit Music on the 3rd, the program “BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG,” scheduled to take place at Gwanghwamun Square at 8:00 p.m. on March 21 (KST), will be produced in collaboration with global OTT platform Netflix. This marks the first time that a major event held in South кσяєα will be broadcast live in real time via Netflix to au∂ιєnces in more than 190 countries and territories.
This is also the first time an artist has held a solo concert at this venue. In 2020, as part of the special “BTS Week” segment on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (NBC, U.S.), the group previously performed at Geunjeongjeon Hall and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion at Gyeongbokgung Palace. About five and a half years later, this performance in the heart of the capital is expected to be a special moment marking a new beginning for BTS.
The event carries even greater significance as BTS will be unveiling their new songs for the first time at Gwanghwamun Square, one of South кσяєα’s most iconic spaces. Big Hit Music also explained the reason for choosing the venue: "The new album 'Arirang' captures BTS's starting point, their identity, and the emotions they wish to convey right now. Given the symbolic weight of the word 'Arirang,' we wanted to prepare their first stage in a space that truly represents кσяєα."

In addition, on March 27, the documentary “BTS: THE RETURN,” which captures the process of producing the new album, will be released exclusively on Netflix. The documentary contains the members’ reflections and concerns as they return to making music and release a new album after about three years and nine months, as well as the journey of shaping “the BTS of today.” Shortly after the news was announced, the documentary’s director, Bao M Nguyen, personally revealed additional details, further heightening excitement.
Specifically, on his personal Instagram account on February 3, the director of the Netflix series stated: “Announcing BTS: THE RETURN, a feature-length documentary I directed, premiering on @netflix. The film follows #BTS as they reunite after completing military service and come back together in Los Angeles to make music again - returning to a shared creative space shaped by time apart and personal change.”
He went on to share his feelings: “This was a mαѕѕive, often seemingly impossible project, and I'm thankful to everyone who helped bring it to life,” and later promised, “I'll be sharing more personal reflections as we get closer to the premiere,” leaving fans eagerly anticipating what’s to come.

With both Big Hit Music and the series director repeatedly emphasizing the process of “reuniting in Los Angeles” and the “creative process,” it suggests this will be more than a typical music documentary. Instead, BTS: THE RETURN is expected to offer an honest lens, delving deeply into each member’s inner changes and growth as they enter a new chapter of their career—soмєтнing that most fans worldwide have remained curious about for over half a year since their discharge.
After the news was shared on social media, it sparked a seismic reaction. Keywords such as #BTS_ARIRANG and #BTSxNETFLIXN quickly rose to the top of trending charts. Fans continued to express their emotions:
