The BTS members once briefly discussed the idea of getting friendship tattoos with fans. It seemed like a sudden idea, but a few months later, all 7 members announced their "7" tattoos, which made fans extremely emotional. What's special is that most of the members have never had tattoos before, but they made this bold decision to celebrate their friendship and career.
Since then, the tattoo details have been in the spotlight and even BTS friendship tattoo artist Polyc has become famous for his stories of working with BTS and close-up tattoos (With permission from the members). Polyc has also revealed the meaning behind different number 7 tattoo designs that combine to form one word - BTS.
Besides, there are many interesting stories behind friendship tattoos, about what it means, why it was done and even who initiated it. All of this was revealed by tattoo artist Polyc when he had an exclusive interview with ̾k̾o̾r̾e̾a Now. In it, he also pointed out which member played a decisive role in getting the rest of them to start getting their tattoos in the first place.
Polyc shared that he first came into contact with BTS through maknae Jungkook - a customer who came to his shop to ask for advice on his arm tattoo. Polyc was "very honored" by Jungkook's visit and "vowed to do his best" when working with the world superstar.
The two then worked together on Jungkook's existing tattoo on his right arm. As you can see, BTS's maknae has done a lot of tattoo designs on his arm and it took a long time to complete. During the time he was working on Jungkook's personal tattoo, Polyc heard him mention the idea of BTS's friendship tattoo many times. Polyc revealed: "Jungkook’s existing tattoo took around 5 months to finish but as we were talking, he kept bringing up friendship tattoos."
Perhaps the BTS members have been thinking about getting the number 7 tattoo for a long time. But in the end, it was this member's encouragement that got the idea off the ground. Polyc pointed out that Jimin was the one who pushed the members to get it done! He said, "They seemed to have talked about getting them for several years, and finally, Jimin said ‘let’s do it’ and they all decided to get tattoos."
While Jimin was the one who initiated the tattoo, Jungkook was the one who introduced the members to tattoo artist Polyc so they could start working on the plan. Polyc said that he was the one responsible for coming up with the idea for the number 7 tattoo design and the BTS members chose where they would get it. In the end, both the tattoo artist and BTS completed their work perfectly.
With their experience as tattoo owners, Jimin and Jungkook were the driving force behind the other members completing the group's commemorative symbol. It's actually a great idea and fans always appreciate the close connection between BTS members.
