BIGBANG's Taeyang has just made a highly anticipated comeback as a soloist after six years. He collaborated with Jimin on the single titled "VIBE" and the two's resonance in this song has captivated the eyes and ears of fans around the world.
Right from the time of its release, the song has been able to glide into the hearts of global aud̾i̾e ̾nces and conquer remarkable achievements, but according to Taeyang, the implementation process is not as smooth. In particular, in an interview, Taeyang mentioned the funny story behind his first dinner meeting with Jimin.
It was a rare a̾c̾c̾i̾d̾e̾n̾t that came from Jimin's name:
After only 24 hours of release, VIBE has shown the remarkable achievements of two top Kpop vocalists. They have dominated the #1 trending YouTube since the song's release. Continuing with this strength, VIBE occupied the first place in the iTunes chart and at the same time ranked high in many kσrєαn charts such as Melon, Genie, etc.
Meanwhile, as part of promotions for "VIBE," Taeyang did an interview with Spotify where he shared some stories about how the song came about. Taeyang's interviews also help address public curiosity about how he and Jimin started their friendship or who suggested the collaboration.
Initially, Taeyang shared how his producer Teddy Park once mentioned how much Jimin talked about how much he loved him. Then, about 2 years ago when Teddy was working with Taeyang in the studio, he came up with the idea of collaborating with Jimin and Taeyang kept this idea for 2 years straight until he met him at j-hope's listening party.
But the later part of the story is more complicated and humorous when the first meeting to discuss the song doesn't go as smoothly as people think. Taeyang shared that when Jimin also showed interest in the project, he created a group chat with each other to further discuss the details. In the end, he ended up inviting Jimin to dinner to talk about a possible collaboration. But, when he arrived at the restaurant, another person appeared instead of the BTS member.
In that situation, Taeyang was very confused and surprised, wondering, "Why is this person here?". But then he realized his mistake. As it turns out, Taeyang a̾c̾c̾i̾d̾e̾n̾tally created a group chat with another celebrity also named Jimin without even knowing that it wasn't BTS Jimin. He invited them to dinner without realizing that he had invited the wrong person.
But as a considerate host, Taeyang handled the situation very well and enjoyed a meal with the "other" Jimin. After the incident, he invited BTS' Jimin to dinner again, and from there, the project continued.
Specifically, the original story from Taeyang is: "So I told Jimin I had a song and asked whether he wanted to work with me, and he said he'd love to. So we made a group chat, and I went to the restaurant that day, but the Jimin I met there, was a different Jimin..."
He continued to share, "There was an artist with the same name, so I had invited a different Jimin to this dinner. I thought to myself 'Why is this person here?' and 'Everything had gone wrong.' But what can I do? We still had a great dinner together. After that, I met up with (BTS's) Jimin for a meal, and we started making music."
This might have been the funniest incident he's ever experienced in his life but it turned out to be an interesting story while making VIBE. Many fans also expressed interest at this υиєχρє¢тє∂ mistake of Taeyang:
- "This is so funny,"
- "I find it more funny that he had to go to the restaurant to find out that he invited the wrong Jimin,"
- "But it is true that there are so many Jimins out there,"
