SUGA Shares The Story Related To Big Bang G-Dragon, Showing How Much BTS Has Changed

Earlier this year, fans were probably extremely pleased and surprised by the collaboration of Jimin and BIGBANG Taeyang in the song marking the return of the male idol after 6 years of absence. It's a really refreshing yet emotional combination for both idols.

Especially for Jimin. Before when BTS first debuted, people or even Jimin never thought that there would be a day when BTS could stand on the same level as famous stars like BIGBANG or collaborate with them.

But now BTS has changed a lot and implemented it. And even through an old story between SUGA and BIGBANG G-Dragon, it can be seen how far BTS has come.

When they first debuted, BTS was not a rookie that received much love from netizens. At that time, they used to be judged as unpopular idols, dressed cheaply, with poor style just because they used sites that didn't come from high-end fashion houses.

But we all know that at the time BTS debuted, they really had a difficult career because the company was carrying a huge debt. For BTS at that time, there was no career, no big support platform, only dreams were never small.

And BIGBANG at that time was already a famous K-pop star, achieving achievements that rookies like BTS only dared to dream of. That was also the time when SUGA met BIGBANG G-Dragon and that gave him and BTS more motivation to achieve the success they are now.

While reviewing their debut stage, SUGA shared his views on how BTS has changed since their debut. Upon seeing the rock star-inspired outfits BTS wore that day, SUGA immediately smiled and recalled a story involving BIGBANG sunbaenim G-Dragon.

He recalled that BTS and BIGBANG had the opportunity to promote together on M Countdown in September 2013 when BTS came back with "N.O", and G-Dragon won with "Black". So they had a chance to meet backstage.

SUGA remembers that time G-Dragon came to talk to him first. He said,"I remember G-Dragon sunbaenim came up to talk to me first. [He asked me] what my clothes said… it was so cheap, a 16,000 won hood̾i̾e ̾ with a graphic tee. I couldn’t tell him because I didn’t know what it said."

Because the shirt was so cheap, SUGA couldn't confidently talk about it to the famous star who wears clothes 10 times more expensive. At the time, SUGA and BTS' $14 jerseys were the most expensive they could buy.

They don't even have enough money to buy luxury clothes and so they have to "make" their clothes "look like luxury". V used to cut his shirt to look like an item from some high-end brand. He used to wear those cut-out shirts during his debut because he thought he would be more fashionable!

But it doesn't matter, even when wearing those shirts, BTS still makes a deep impression on the public like the way they made an impression on G-Dragon. Those cheap shirts and outfits make it possible for our boys to wear thousands of dollars worth of clothes from top brands like Gucci, Chanel,...and even become the brand ambassadors of Valentino, Dior, LV,...

The wardrobe change is just another sign of how much BTS's life has changed from 2013 to the present. From BTS' admiring encounter to their idol duet, it's well worth the effort BTS has put in!
