Recently, BTS fans seem to be dealing with a large number of fans who lack the sense and go beyond the limits of a fan towards their idol. In addition to the notable cases of akgaes attacks, another case even prompted BTS members to directly call out during a live broadcast - those who left disrespectful comments.
There were many fans who lacked awareness of word usage as well as making odd comments on Weverse Live and it made RM, V, Jungkook and now SUGA have to respond uncomfortably. This led to the artists' uncomfortable mood during the chat and raised concerns about the treatment of idols in the fan community:
Weverse now seems to be a leading platform for connecting fans and artists. It has entered its golden age when diversifying the forms that allow artists to interact with fans through comments in posts or live broadcasts.
However, just like other social networks, on Weverse there are also many toxic individuals or unethical fans. In particular, the situation has become even more alarming over the past few months, as ARMYs have expressed concern about the lack of fan etiquette on Weverse when BTS members go live.
Most recently, SUGA himself also had to speak up to make rude fans ashamed of his actions. Specifically, after SUGA's performance for his concert in Chicago, he sat down on Weverse Live with online fans to briefly share his feelings.
While SUGA was reading and replying to comments from many fans around the world happily. He noticed someone asking him to speak English. SUGA also read this comment aloud during his live broadcast: "Speak English, please".
At first glance, it can be seen as a politely written request, but in reality, its meaning is not polite at all. Because most of the members used to speak in ḳöŕệän and English was only used as the second language to help them when needed. Even then fans can still watch a replay of the broadcast with English subtitles updated after each broadcast.
Therefore, it is excessive to make such a request. However, SUGA looked unfazed by the rude request and sternly replied in ḳöŕệän that he didn't want to speak English.
He replied boldly in ḳöŕệän: "I don’t want to. I will speak in ḳöŕệän".
With SUGA's reaction, ARMYs were pleased that he was brutally outspoken to silence these ignorant fans. Once again, however, this case raises the alarm about how badly degraded the Weverse fan rituals are:
- honestly how many times do bts have to tell you guys that they don’t want to speak english before y’all stop f*cking asking them lol
- they read this out at least one time every time they go live like when whennnnnn will it end
- im so done with this ppl
- like the second-hand embarräṩṩment is soo real
- My guess is they’re haters, spamming for no reason
- it's rαcιsm atp
- just to be clear, celebrating the boys for using english beautifully when they CHOOSE to use it is VERY F*CKING DIFFERENT from insisting they speak english just because it makes your life a little easier
- i honestly don’t understand the motivation behind begging them to speak english in a space that is meant to be comfortable for the boys and army to hang out and interact. it’s entitled and selfish. we have plenty of resources to be able to understand them at almost real time
- respect bts because they respect you
- LIKE THEYRE SICK AND TIRED OF IT. AND SO AM I
- yoongi going a like "no I don't think I will" is very se*y of him tbh
- It doesn’t end. Like how are they not tired
- GLAD THEY'RE PUTTING PEOPLE IN THEIR PLACE
- After all, even if the members come to W Live, it is not hard to imagine that there are many nonpolite or cheap questions and comments. We also have to treat 7 members with the same kind of sincerity
- Members have been talking about these types of comments these days so pls ask soмєтнing sensible if u want to or else just show ur support and love.
Notably, this is not the first time BTS members have received comments like this. Before SUGA, RM, j-hope, V and Jungkook also received similar comments when asked to speak English during the broadcast instead of ḳöŕệän.
Even RM faced many rude comments while V faced weird and rude comments. Among them, V and RM have repeatedly responded with the same attitude as SUGA.
RM has stated that he will turn off comments if fans continue to comment on these in his future live broadcast. He said that: "Many people are writing strange things in the chat". RM even felt so disappointed when he read this that he made a brief comment that: “You guys changed…”. Not stopping there, RM also explained to ARMYs later that: “Ah, I think it’ll be better if I don’t look at the comments".
While, V expressed: "There is a person I remembered your ID. You asked me to wish you happy birthday in the previous live broadcast and today, you also commented the same thing. It is so bored and weird!"
In response to these comments, V reminded fans that it's been 10 years since BTS' debut and they've grown a lot. So such old-fashioned and inanimate comments are no longer relevant. He asked fans to make more interesting and proper comments in the next live broadcasts.
V concluded: "Everyone, you're too obvious. It's been 10 years since we've debut but it hasn't changed. I think the questions could be upgraded.
I'll be turning off the live soon. Next time I come, please ask me fun questions and that day I will dadadadada (sound effects that mean he'll read them all)".
Meanwhile, j-hope seems to be the most affected mentally as he blames himself for not being able to speak many words in English and is even kind enough to promise to improve his language to use it more in the future. It's not his fault and true ARMYs have never asked him to do it just for personal satisfaction.
The BTS members are known for being the most kind and patient with their fans, but that doesn't mean fans can't break the limit. Indecent requests from some fans are som̾e̾t̾h ̾ing they don't need to notice and respect because they don't get any respect from these people themselves!
