First of all, this is really a surprising topic for many people when SUGA mentioned it. He's still young to talk about retirement now and BTS is still committed to getting back together after completing their military service.
However, this topic is an undeniable fact and members have been thinking about it for many years. This time, SUGA shared what he thought about the time when he was no longer working as an idol or an artist.
When SUGA gave an answer about his future retirement plans, many fans laughed but were also very touched:
SUGA is currently on a 21-month hiatus from military service as a social service worker. Over the past 10 years, like the BTS members, SUGA has devoted his talents and life to music and fans around the world. Now, he does not rest but continues to fulfill his responsibilities as a citizen. So when will he have time to himself?
We all understand that a strict rule for Kpop idols is that the golden age of their career is often short. That's why they have to debut when they're very young, around 14 - 15 years old or even earlier, and have to work continuously and hard after debut. BTS in general and SUGA in particular are no exception. Many fans and netizens were surprised when looking at their schedule list and wondered how they were able to do so well.
However, we also understand that this is one of the most important moments in his and BTS's career. SUGA works at full capacity while he still can and he himself is also aware that he wants to do a lot of work while he can because he knows time waits for no one.
In particular, during an interaction with fans, SUGA shared his thoughts about career longevity. In particular, through that, he also openly talked about his plan to retire when he is no longer at the peak of his career. SUGA slowly shared, "I envision myself performing until my 60s", which evoked enthusiastic responses from fans. Amidst the shouts of "Please grace the stage till your final moments," he light-heartedly retorted.
In addition, SUGA also made a realistic but humorous request to his fans: "Let me rest a little bit before I ∂ιє though. I don't think I'll be able to even hold a mic at that age!". And fans couldn't help but laugh at this confession and agree with him. ARMYs also think that at that age, it will be difficult for them to go to concerts or be able to see him clearly.
Many people left interesting comments when SUGA shared about his retirement plan, but some were also touched when hearing his honest sharing:
- I think SUGA changed the most out of the BTS, maybe tied with V, He used to be indifferent and cold-ḅŀööďed, now he's so sweet and affectionate, it seems so strange to me. And V too, he used to be a goof-ball, a very weird individual, now he's so calm and collected, not to mention, considered one of the ̾s̾e̾xiest men alive. BTS really changed and I don't really know if I am just nostalgic or biased but I feel like I miss the old BTS ~ pre-MOTS series
- I hope he's still performing at 60 too, at the very least it might help to stop the rampant ageism that goes on in entertainment.
- anyway yoongi finishes his US leg today i’m genuinely so proud of him like this tour must have been so scary and difficult to plan and execute but he’s literally done so well like every single stop he’s given it his all i’m so grateful i got to see him ;)
- I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WITH YOONGI PLANNING OUR FUTURE AND PREPARING OUR KIDS SCHOOL PLAN
- You can rest anytime you want but we will always be there to support you
- He said the truth but i think if they hold a concert at 60yrs old, i will be about 50s and it is still good for me to dance with other fellow ARMYs
- Yes and after 60s they will grow old together as dads, live their own happy life with their lovers and we still witness them
- This is the most beautiful moment of my life and i think BTS too
Even when BTS does not maintain group activities, the members are still constantly busy with individual projects. Since BTS stopped group activities, SUGA has been working at full capacity until he joined the army. He became an ambαѕѕador for the luxury brand, released a new album, launched a talk show and even went on a world tour for many months.
