BTS members got a friendship tattoo of 7 together and it was definitely a tattoo revolution. There are many members in the group who have never tried tattoos, and some of them were not open to tattoos before, such as SUGA.
But it seems that his views on tattoos have changed to the point that he has another tattoo in addition to the friendship tattoo. Fans α¢¢ι∂єитally discovered this through some of his photos.
SUGA's openness to tattoos has made fans excited and even in love when they discovered the meaning of this tattoo:
Previously, in the perspective of кσяєαns and more broadly Asian countries, tattoos were considered a threat or even a symbol of crime. In an interview a long time ago, SUGA also shared his perspective on tattoos in the context of realizing their influence on the idol profession. He shared: “When I was young, I really wanted to have one. But as I turned 20 years old, I didn’t want to anymore. Recently, I heard that Pharrell Williams is removing his tattoos and saying that he doesn’t even know why he got it tattooed.”
Jungkook himself also received a lot of criticism when he revealed his entire right arm was tattooed in the summer of 2019. Later, his success and popularity as well as his great personality created a big change in the prejudice against tattoos. The participation of political officials as well as the opinions of professional tattoo artists also changed the prejudice against tattoos. Now, it has become popular and respected for idols to get tattoos.
What's more surprising is that later, all 7 BTS members got friendship tattoos together to commemorate more than a decade together. Even SUGA, who was afraid of getting a tattoo, got it done. He was also the last BTS member to reveal the location of his number 7 tattoo on his shoulder, making ARMYs so excited.
At the time of getting his number 7 tattoo, SUGA commented that apart from his friendship tattoo, he would not get any other tattoos in the future. He seemed very certain: "I wasn't planning on getting a tattoo ever in my life but the members were getting it. I don't have any bad image about tattoo but knowing my personality, I feel like I'd think "I should've gotten it a little more to this side". I'm not planning on getting any more tattoos".
However, ARMYs later α¢¢ι∂єитally discovered that SUGA had "betrayed" that statement because he seemed to have another tattoo on his body. When closely looking at his finger in many photos during his solo world tour, fans discovered that he had a small tattoo on the knuckle of his ring finger. Because it was so tiny, not many people realized that it was a new tattoo. Upon closer inspection, ARMY confirmed that it was actually a dot tattoo and the dot had never been there before.
When fans discovered SUGA's second tattoo, they were surprised and also excited that he was open about tattoos. But in fact, he has revealed that his views on tattoos can change over time. In the past, SUGA mentioned that he thought tattoos were inappropriate when he was doing charity work but his intentions might change one day.
He even joked that he might "tattoo whole back next year". When he was asked “If you’re getting a tattoo, what and where do you want it?”, SUGA ever replied that he would get a dot ink on toes. Perhaps, the location of the dot tattoo was also changed!
As for the meaning of this dot tattoo, many also realized that it symbolizes the completion of a turning point, as well as opening a new beginning. It coincides with SUGA completing an important stage in his 10-year life and career. So maybe that's why SUGA added a tattoo to his body to commemorate it.
Fans are really proud and happy that SUGA completed his first chapter with such meaningful marks!
