Seven years after becoming a global box-office phenomenon, Avengers: Endgame officially returned to theaters in several countries on September 23 with an extended version featuring new footage related to the upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday. Director Joe Russo revealed that the additional content was filmed during the production of Avengers: Doomsday, making this return a special event rather than simply a re-release of the 2019 blockbuster.
Arriving less than three months before Doomsday, the re-release has been viewed by industry insiders as part of Marvel’s efforts to reignite interest in the Avengers franchise while drawing au∂ιєnces back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Interestingly, the return of Avengers: Endgame has not only reignited excitement around the Marvel universe but has also υиєχρє¢тє∂ly brought a little-known collaboration between the franchise and RM from around 10 years ago back into the spotlight!
Going back to 2015, when he was still promoting under the stage name Rap Monster, RM co-wrote and performed the song “Fantastic” for Marvel’s Fantastic Four. He teamed up with αмєяι¢αn singer Mandy Ventrice to release the digital single alongside the film’s premiere on August 4, 2015. The song was also included on the movie’s soundtrack.
In the music video, RM appeared dressed in black and wearing his signature sunglαѕѕes, rapping in both English and кσяєαn while delivering an energetic performance. A decade later, the official video uploaded to 1theK’s YouTube channel has garnered around 8.2 million views and nearly 500,000 likes.
Most ARMYs may believe that BTS’ connection with Marvel began when “Friends” by Jimin and V was selected for the soundtrack of Eternals (2021). In reality, however, that connection goes back much further. As early as 2015, when BTS was still trying to find their way into the Western market, RM and Marvel had already joined forces in a rather memorable collaboration.
Meanwhile, many fans are well aware that RM has long been a devoted Marvel enthusiast like countless other fans of the franchise. In one episode of Run BTS, the production staff played the "Avengers Assemble" theme and asked the members to identify the movie. After thinking for just a few seconds, RM quickly answered "Avengers: Endgame," and his response was confirmed to be correct, demonstrating his familiarity with the superhero franchise.
Looking back at Rap Monster's performance of "Fantastic," many fans expressed both surprise and admiration. Others also voiced their hope that RM—or even BTS as a whole—will collaborate with Marvel again in the future. The comments included:
