RM Shares The Reason Why BTS Members Declined To Attend The AMAs After-party

RM held a livestream on Weverse on the afternoon of the 28th, candidly sharing behind-the-scenes stories and his thoughts about the production process of BTS’s fifth studio album, “ARIRANG.” Even though the livestream took place on a regular weekday afternoon, it still attracted more than 3.7 million viewers. During the broadcast, RM honestly remarked that “ARIRANG” was the most difficult project they had ever worked on, and that the album being completed without any member giving up was “truly a miracle.”

Notably, just one day earlier, BTS had made history at the “αмєяι¢αn Music Awards 2026,” held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA. The group won several major categories including “Artist Of The Year,” “Favorite Male K-POP Artist,” and “Song Of The Summer” thanks to their comeback with ARIRANG. The AMAs are widely regarded as one of the biggest music award shows in the United States and are considered a measure of an artist’s global influence and international fandom power. In particular, the “Artist Of The Year” category has long been viewed as a battleground for the world’s top pop stars.

As the event was becoming the center of global attention, it was naturally brought up during the conversation. Interestingly, instead of talking further about their victory, RM revealed a behind-the-scenes story about the 2026 AMAs after party and shared why the group ultimately decided not to attend despite their huge wins.

RM gave a simple explanation: “Yesterday after the AMAs, we thought about going to the after party and mingling with artists and producers a bit, we thought about it and then didn't go. I was afraid to and the members have difficulty with English and some of us don't like mingling.”

His honest confession received overwhelming support from fans — they completely understood how the members felt and were not surprised by the fact that BTS does not often attend after parties at these kinds of events. They commented: "Its so hard to try to fit in...I'm still struggling with this as an introvert", "They never had difficulties in my house. Soмєтнing never changes", "Introverts problems I understand", "They prioritise the comfort of the members more than anything else. love them for that",...

Meanwhile, some others humorously pointed out that even though BTS skipped the official AMAs after party, they ended up holding their own “party” as seven members together — the Weverse Live broadcast. Instead of immersing themselves in a glamorous after party where they did not feel completely comfortable, BTS ultimately chose a more meaningful “celebration” for themselves: returning to one another and talking with millions of ARMYs around the world — the very people BTS has always insisted these awards belong to and were made possible by.

This also reminded fans of the emotional words RM shared during Day 3 of BTS’s Las Vegas concert just hours earlier. On stage, RM reflected on the first time BTS attended the AMAs back in 2017 — when they were still unfamiliar artists in the αмєяι¢αn market. “9  years ago when we first attended the AMAs. We had... we literally had no room so, we had to, like, fix our make up in the hallway. So when the stars maybe just pαѕѕed by we were like ‘Oh hey, I am sorry’,”” RM recalled.

But nine years later, everything had completely changed! "Last night we used the biggest room. And everyone — every legend, every staff — they were so nice and kind to us,” RM said emotionally in front of tens of thousands of ARMYs at Allegiant Stadium. He then directly emphasized the biggest reason behind that transformation: “And we know it’s because of you guys…I just wanna say this - you know, it's all thanks to you and we'll never forget the night we had at the AMAs. I love you.”

In the end, all RM’s sincere and honest words only deepened one undeniable truth — BTS has never forgotten their roots or changed who they are. To them, the most luxurious, warmest, and most comfortable party is simply the space shared by the seven members and the people who helped bring them out of that dark hallway years ago — ARMYs. At this point, fans could not help but feel touched by the members’ actions, expressing:

- They chose not to go to the after party and instead came live to talk with armys... oh my bangtan my sweet sweet bangtan

- If this isn’t love then what is? They care about each other and their feelings so much. Bangtan really is a family and no one can convince me otherwise. Bonded by a red string.

- This makes me remember that charity event and how sk was crucifying them when some idols are doing worse at met gala. They have traumatized our Tannies so much they are afraid to go out. Anyways, we have BTS and Armys after party so yeah, it’s a win

- They've always skipped after parties and choose to celebrate it with us instead. alwas thankful for the time they give us and that they always choose their comfort and health.

- Find an idol who would rather spend their time and happiness with their fans instead of going to after-parties. BTS always celebrate their wins with ARMYs and give us the credit instead of celebrating with other celebrities.

- Besides, you're all exhausted, & y'all have concert the day after... Resting is the best choice.. Partying will spend a lot of energy...

- NAMJOON always choosing his babies over everything made so fckin cry. You won't ever gonna find this kind of relationship nowadays

- This reminds me of when they said that during their stay in the United States, they had to forcibly remove Jungkook because he didn't want to leave the apartment

- Lmao, that's cute tho instead of that they decided to celebrate it with us. I love BTS so much
