RM’s Reaction to ARMY Using BTS’s Song to Help Put Out a Fire Goes Viral

In the past, fan culture has sometimes faced prejudice and harsh criticism. Over time, however, the positive impact of K-pop artists has helped the public develop a more open-minded view of fandoms. Among them, BTS stands out as a group whose influence extends far beyond music, touching the lives of millions of people around the world.

Over the past decade, countless stories have shown how BTS’s music has become a source of emotional comfort and encouragement, and has even been used in situations involving health and safety. The αмєяι¢αn Heart Association (AHA) previously recognized Jin, highlighting that his song “Don’t Say You Love Me” has a rhythm suitable for guiding Hands-Only CPR. This demonstrates how music can offer practical value beyond entertainment.

Still, the idea that a BTS song could help save the day during a fire might seem hard to imagine. Yet, that is exactly what happened, and what makes the story even more interesting is that RM recently came across it himself. Specifically, RM reposted a news article about the incident on Instagram, adding a brief “Thank you” along with a fire emoji.

The BTS leader’s reaction quickly caught fans’ attention and sent the story viral once again, especially after they realized that the incident was directly connected to one of the group’s most iconic songs.

The incident actually took place in Itaewon, Seoul, in 2022. A נαραиese BTS fan was returning home after dinner when she suddenly noticed a pile of trash on the roadside catching fire and rapidly going up in flames. Although she was not fluent in кσяєαn and did not know how to say “There’s a fire!” or “Soмєтнing is burning!”, she immediately ran into a nearby restaurant to seek help.

In the middle of the panic, the only кσяєαn phrase related to “fire” that came to her mind was the iconic BTS lyric: “저기요! 불타오르네!! 불타오르네!!” (“Excuse me! Bultaoreune! Bultaoreune!” / “Burning up!”). Surprisingly, the phrase was enough for the restaurant owner and nearby customers to understand what was happening. They immediately grabbed buckets of water and fire extinguishers, rushed outside, and quickly put out the flames before the fire could spread and become more serious.

At the time, the story spread widely throughout the ARMY community. Fans found the situation hilarious while also feeling amazed that BTS’s music had come in handy at such an υиєχρє¢тє∂ moment. кσяєαn media outlets also took notice and reported on the unusual incident. Now, with RM’s reaction, the story from years ago has once again become a hot topic of discussion.

Many fans are amused by how a familiar lyric managed to overcome a language barrier and convey an urgent message. Perhaps this is one of the most unforgettable examples of BTS’s musical influence. Fans have been sharing all kinds of reactions to the story:

- ARMYs being ARMY life hacks no 7: use universal ARMY language

- The fact that they learned exactly one emergency phrase and it worked is so funny to me. saved the whole block with a bts lyric basically.

- Joon must be tickled pink a bangtan song title helped prevent disaster. Hope the נαραиese ARMY sees this!

- The way they shouted the only кσяєαn they knew and it worked out better than any plan. What a way to make history

- Kind of armytwt lore i want BTS to know. Should make BTS read tweets but instead of thirst tweets, it's thing like these

- Finally after years, Joon noticed this lol. THIS MAKING ME LAUGHSVABANSKS

- How unserious it would have sounded for herself during such a serious time? Hope they didn't do the dance move as well hehe

- I wonder about the кσяєαns’ reaction when these things happen? And Joon discovering this iconic lore which the fandom discovered years ago in the big year of 2026
