Christmas and the upcoming New Year of 2026 are knocking on the door with an especially meaningful significance for the global ARMY community. After nearly three years of group activities being put on hold due to military service, the BTS members are finally able to enjoy a complete reunion with ARMYs once again. This excitement stems not only from the festive season itself, but also from the anticipation of a “blowout” 2026, when the group is set to officially return with all seven members.
From early on, the members sent heartfelt and sweet Christmas and New Year wishes to ARMY through OT7 livestreams and warm messages. At the same time, they stirred up social media by continuously sharing glimpses of their everyday lives. Jimin, for instance, even ѕтαятℓє∂ fans by deleting all of his previous posts and replacing them with a brand-new series of Christmas-themed uploads.
No sooner had fans recovered from Jimin’s surprise than RM stepped in, υиєχρє¢тє∂ly “ambushing” them with a mysterious Instagram post that quickly became a hot topic among fans worldwide.
On December 26, RM uploaded a photo without any caption. The image, taken from behind, shows him standing in a studio alongside another man. Neither of their faces is visible, yet their close distance and body language suggest a strong sense of intimacy. What drew the most attention, however, was the song attached to the post: “Husbands” by the band Geese, which immediately left viewers puzzled and curious.

The comment section was soon flooded with reactions from fans around the world, such as “EXCUSE ME MR. NAMJOON,” “MR KIM NAMJOON!?,” “The song choice—he’s so funny,” "DID HE GET MARRIED" and “I looked at the song title and was like hmmm sure”... The suggestive combination of imagery and music prompted countless questions about the message RM might be trying to convey.
However, the initial confusion was soon replaced by a moment of heartfelt realization. Longtime fans quickly connected the dots using previously shared information. The man standing beside RM in the photo turned out to be none other than his father. Fans began comparing details and discovered clear overlaps with a set of family photos RM had shared in the past.
Specifically, on November 5, 2025, RM and his family had taken a family photo shoot at a studio in Seoul. The idol even uploaded several unedited photos from the shoot to Instagram at the time. From the studio setting and outfits to the physique of the man in the image, every detail perfectly matched the photo posted on December 26.

Once the identity of the mysterious figure was revealed, both the image and the song were no longer seen as ѕнσ¢кing, but rather as a very “RM-like” choice!
He is well known for his depth of thought, intellectual humor, and his use of music to reflect social realities. In particular, RM has long shown sensitivity toward songs that explore social roles (Persona, Indigo, Right Place, Wrong Person), and Husbands falls squarely within that line of thinking: when people are viewed solely through their roles, they lose the right to simply be themselves. Choosing this song for a photo taken with his father can thus be seen as a wordplay-like gesture, referencing the men of his family—those who take on the role of “providers” and “pillars.”
On another level, standing beside his father—the most important man in his life—RM appears to be hinting at the idea of inheritance and succession. While Geese’s song speaks about the pressure of stepping into the role of a “husband,” RM’s photo juxtaposes a man who has fully lived through that role (his father) with a man standing at the beginning of that journey (RM himself). This is where the notion of inheritance comes into focus: RM reflects on the image of masculinity and responsibility he has seen in his father, and quietly measures it against himself.

As this layer of meaning came to light, fans were quick to praise RM’s depth and were deeply moved by the tender father-and-son moment he shared:
- Husbands, cool song choice Namjoon. I swear you'll become best husband in the future like your dad did
- Using the song husband is a nice choice. The Kim father-son duo is truly outstanding
- What a nice picture and song choice Namjoon. He has always spoken about wanting to become a father and seeing his own father as his ideal role model. It’s truly moving to look at this moment
- I love their bond. Joonie grew up in such a great family
- Joon, you always make me feel so homey. Oh my heart
- The song husbands signify that his dad is husband to his mom and namjoon is husband to someone else. This steals my heart really
- Only Namjoon could turn a single photo and a song choice into a whole think piece. His mind is honestly on another level
- Pairing that photo with Husbands was such a Namjoon move — ironic, meaningful, and deeply personal
- RM doesn’t post for ѕнσ¢к value — he posts to make you think. Check properly before anyone Start imagining shts in your head. Please respect him and his family.
