But for BTS and ARMYs, birthdays are not just about cutting cakes or blowing out candles — it's a time to “take action.” On September 12, RM’s birthday this year, the leader of BTS continued his annual tradition of setting aside a sum of money to donate, creating meaningful and lasting impact.

кσяєαn media outlets simultaneously reported that RM donated ₩200 million (approximately USD $154,000) to кσяєα University Medical Center and Seoul Asan Medical Center (₩100M each) to commemorate his 31st birthday in a thoughtful and humanitarian way.

Speaking to the press, RM said: “I decided to donate in the hopes that it would provide a small but warm hope to patients," and added, "It's meaningful to be able to participate, even if only a little, in spreading the value of medical advancement and respect for life.”

Seoul Asan Medical Center plans to use RM’s donation to help cover treatment and surgery costs for patients in need — aligning with his wish. Meanwhile, кσяєα University Medical Center intends to use the funds to improve the clinical environment and expand diverse medical services, laying the foundation for long-term development.

In response to the BTS superstar’s generous donation, Yoon Eul-sik, Vice President of Medical Affairs at кσяєα University, expressed his gratitude, saying: “RM’s warm heart, striving to create a better world, will be a great help in helping patients regain their health.” He added, “We will cherish the value of sharing you have shared and do our best to nurture its fruits so that we can grow into an even more trustworthy, ultra-gap medical institution.”

This is not the first time RM has taken action to create a positive impact on his birthday — he has been making annual donations for several years now. Last year, RM donated ₩100 million (USD $74,600) to the “Everyone’s Veterans Dream” project, which supports veterans, armed forces personnel, ρσℓι¢є officers, firefιgнтers, and prison staff.

On his 2023 birthday, he donated ₩100 million to the кσяєαn Society of Legal Medicine to support professional training. In 2021 and 2022, he made similar donations to the Overseas кσяєαn Cultural Heritage Foundation to help restore and preserve кσяєαn cultural artifacts abroad.
