In recent days, Jungkook has become the center of attention following a live broadcast that lasted approximately 1 hour and 28 minutes on Weverse at around 3:42 a.m. on the 26th. During the stream, he was seen drinking alcohol with a roommate and his older brother while singing for fans.
Notably, the singer candidly admitted that he had smoked heavily in the past but clarified that he has successfully quit. However, moments such as him raising his middle finger toward his friend or looking into the camera and blurting out English swear words like “F*CK” before bursting into laughter were recorded and widely circulated online.
Although the livestream was later deleted from the platform, clips continued to spread, sparking mixed reactions. Some harsh comments stated: “Would he have acted like this back when he was desperate to manage his fandom?”, “If you want to say whatever you want, you shouldn't be an idol,” “A profession that thrives on fantasy requires a matching attitude,” “Would he have done this during his rookie days?” and “When did he change this much?”

Amid the wave of criticism, a post on the platform Spin on March 2 drew the attention of the fan community. The writer claimed to be someone close to the owner of the grill restaurant where Jungkook had dined before doing the controversial livestream. The person also said it was their first time using Spin, as they felt compelled to speak up after seeing Jungkook receive so much criticism.
In the post, the individual shared: “Hello, I’m someone close to the owner of the grill restaurant where Jungkook first ate on the day he did his live broadcast. I heard that during their conversation that day, he talked a lot about his love for ARMY. Since the restaurant is small, some of what was said could be overheard unintentionally. It seems like he’s been getting a lot of hate, so I couldn’t just ignore it and wanted to say soмєтнing. This is my first time using this platform (Spin), so I’m not really sure how to write this since I’m not very good with words.”
They also mentioned: “Anyway, I was told that he seemed like someone whose inside and outside are the same — a very genuine person. Also, even though no one specifically asked him to, when someone mentioned that the part-time workers who were off that day might feel disappointed, he signed autographs for all of them before he left.” A small gesture, yet enough to show his thoughtfulness and consideration for those around him.

This account quickly spread within the fan community, offering a different perspective amid the storm of public opinion. Many believe that while the livestream may have left an imperfect impression, it does not completely negate Jungkook’s character and sincerity in real life.
On the other hand, ARMYs have also pointed out a paradox within the fandom: we want idols to maintain a flawless image forever, yet at the same time we long to see their “real selves.” The deeper the love, the stricter the standards become. Even so, there is no justification for excessively interfering in the private life of an adult, even if that person is an artist. Accepting even the most ordinary aspects of an idol may be the true meaning of sincere support.
Under the post defending Jungkook that is currently circulating, fans commented:
- The man he is, I just wish he know how much he means to us
- I’m crying. A friend of the owner of the BBQ restaurant Jungkook went to actually spoke up for him. He’s really so kind. He’s so precious.
- How considerate of JK to sign for employees who weren’t there too. The Restaurateur’s friend spoke up for Jungkook when he didn’t have to. How kind & what a contrast to JK’s supposed fans (referring only to those spewing hate ostensibly as concern for the group comeback).
- Jungkook is truly the most precious person who deserves only the very best!!
- Jungkook is such a pure soul, so kind...I am glad he knows HE IS LOVED!
- OMG how can someone be this kind ??? I'm falling for him even more. Every stories I heard about him are always like being so kind, so polite and genuine. He is such a sweetheart
- Literally the sweetest and purest soul. I do not understand how people misunderstand him so badly or hate him so much. He deserves nothing but love. I’m so glad he has Jimin to cherish and support him
- The sweetest soul oh jungkook you are just loved
- Jungkook is so sweet and kind, a beautiful soul that must be protected at all costs
- Unfortunately, you don’t deserve Jungkook’s love. He is an incredibly sweet and wonderful person, and he never stops showing it. I will protect him at any cost.
