The forest fire in North Gyeongsang Province has become a terrifying obsession for the people of this country in the past few weeks. The fire originated in Anpyeong County of this province, about 180 km southeast of Seoul.
The fire quickly spread to Andong and 3 neighboring areas amid strong winds and drought. Breaking out on March 21, the worst forest fire disaster ever in кσяєα has burned 48,238 hectares, кιℓℓing 30 people and injuring 45 others.
Currently, many people in the forest fire areas have not been able to stabilize their lives, or even return home. The кσяєαn government also reported that it will take more than 30 years to restore the forest structure and up to 100 years to completely stabilize the ecosystem in these areas.
In this context, volunteer activities to help people and authorities in areas severely affected by forest fires are taking place vigorously. Notably, today's volunteer crew includes BTS superstar Jin.
On the 3rd of this month, Jin was reported to be serving meals at Gilan High School in Andong, a shelter for the wildfire victims. Jin was in charge of distributing food in 'The Born Korea' free canteen during lunchtime.
Since the 28th of last month, Baek Jong Won and staff from 'The Born Korea' have been preparing 1,000 meals a day in affected areas and providing them to evacuees and firefighters.
Jin was seen in a casual outfit, wearing a black cap, a mask, and a gray apron. He was no different from other volunteers. However, many people still recognized him because of his kind eyes and handsome appearance.
Some local people who received food from Jin shared that he not only delivered food politely but also gave them warm words of encouragement. One resident said, "People say he is a celebrity, but to me, he is a kind and honest guy."
"He works hard without trying to stand out from other volunteers," another added.
Despite keeping a low profile, his kindness shone through. A local shared, “He didn’t stand out among the other volunteers and just worked hard.”
Before going to volunteer in the forest fire area, Jin also donated a large amount of money to the forest fire relief work with BTS members. Now, he has directly gone to the localities and participated in volunteer service, showing his infinite kindness.
