Although BTS‘s RM is one of the biggest artists in the world, the group’s leader has never been afraid to share his appreciation toward other musicians. In particular, RM has never been shy about the fact he has been a huge fan of Pharrell Williams for years. They even met back in 2018 and it was the most wholesome interaction in the world.

Recently, BTS leader RM sat down with Pharrell Williams in an exclusive one-on-one conversation with each other for  Rolling Stone magazine. The two artists discussed various aspects of their careers, from their journey as musicians to their process of creating music. Moreover, they also revealed that the two have collaborated on a track.

During the interview, Pharrell revealed that he has been wanting to work with BTS for over four years now. When RM was reminiscing about their first meeting at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, Pharrell enthusiastically said that he clearly remembers when they met backstage and he had to reign in his excitement to work with BTS right then and there.

He said: "I wanted to work then, but I didn’t want to be aggressive. But I was like let’s leave…I was working at a studio not too far away…I wanted to be like ‘Let’s leave here right now and go something crazy. I just loved everything you guys were doing. I loved your energy and I love what it is that you represent."

Pharrell emphasized that he admired BTS for representing the Asian community that he himself feels indebted to in some ways. He also added that the type of humility BTS exude despite their massive fanbase is also something that he feels is exemplary for other artists.

Besides that, RM has never been shy about the fact he has been a huge fan of Pharrell Williams for years. At the first time het met Pharrell, he even said that: "You're our idol sir. When can we carve some time [to collaborate]? We'll make some time." Well, it seems like RM is truly living any fan’s dream, as he had an interview and even a collaboration with his idol. 

During the interview, RM and Pharrell spoke about their upcoming projects, and Pharell spoke about his upcoming project having the support from BTS. He mentioned that: "Well, my project, it’s called . . . it’s [under] my name, and the title of the album is Phriends. It’s the volume one. 

You guys [BTS] are on there, obviously. And I’m actually talking about this way more than I’m supposed to, but it’s a song from my album that [BTS] sang and it’s amazing, and I’m super grateful."

The significance of the album to BTS is huge and, as the title of the article explained, they spilled on a secret collaboration ARMYs can expect in the future. It seems like it isn’t just Pharrel who made ARMYs excited as RM seems to be just as happy, adding, “I just love this song.”

Yet, as excited as fans are, many shared that it should’ve been obvious from the start and that RM has actually been giving us hints over the past few months.

During his birthday live broadcast, RM actually revealed that he had been working with a lot of different artists. Although he also specified his own album, he didn’t rule out appearing on others, which included his recent track with Balming Tiger. More specifically, with Pharrell, RM even shared some gifts sent by the artist on his Instagram. Although some ARMYs predicted it might be the case, it was scary how obvious the BTS leader was being.

He ever said that: "I think I am going to work with people who are my friends. So, I might do some surprising collaborations from now on. A lot of different people helped me out in the album, a lot of surprising choices."

More specifically, with Pharrell, RM even shared some gifts sent by the artist on his Instagram. Although some ARMYs predicted it might be the case, it was scary how obvious the BTS leader was being.

With RM’s album set for this month and Pharrell’s album out soon, it will be interesting to see just how much work the magnificent duo did together.
