In the K-pop industry, it is admirable when idols compliment or support each other’s musical releases, as it reflects a spirit of healthy competition and collective growth within the music field. However, in stark contrast to the idols’ positive attitude, the world of fandom is an entirely different picture. Fan wars erupt almost daily, sometimes without any particular reason at all.
ARMYs and NSWERS (the fandom of NMIXX) were recently unintentionally dragged into a “ridiculous” conflict started by a group of fans from other idol groups. What’s noteworthy is that the original story was actually a positive connection between the fandoms of BTS and NMIXX, but a portion of another fandom exploded with negative reactions, causing the situation to spiral into chaos.
Specifically, on the 16th, RM posted a photo on his Instagram Story and attached the sound of NMIXX’s song “Spinnin on it.” This action was quickly noticed by NMIXX fans and spread across social media with overwhelming excitement. For them, the fact that a top senior in K-pop like RM enjoyed NMIXX’s song was a great honor.
NSWERS also noted that RM rarely attaches the sound of other K-pop groups to his Instagram posts, making his choice to share a song by NMIXX more special than ever. NMIXX's fans felt happy that the group was being acknowledged and proud on behalf of their idols.
In response, ARMYs also appreciated the respect NSWERS showed toward RM, offering many messages of support and praise for the JYP Entertainment girls!
However, that joy didn’t last long. As the information spread and reached some other fandoms, negative reactions began to appear. A considerable number of people expressed annoyance, claiming that RM’s action was nothing worth making a fuss over. They mocked the excitement of NMIXX fans and even began to make snide remarks and personal attacks toward RM.
RM’s action was entirely positive and didn’t involve any other artists whatsoever. Yet these negative individuals deliberately escalated the situation in a toxic direction to ruin the joy of NSWERS, while also harshly insulting RM—causing ARMYs to become furious.
Fans like this are exactly the reason the environment between K-pop fandoms becomes so toxic. This is why artists are often cautious when mentioning other idols in their statements. ARMYs believe that the attacks targeting NMIXX’s fans and RM stem from ‘jealousy’ and a natural ‘dislike,’ because those people’s idols did not receive the same kind of recognition:
- just ignore them, they have extremely parasocial hatred towards joon, they get triggered anytime he as much as breathes
- senior artist used a junior artist’s song on instagram. While both fandoms are appreciating each other why are a few uninvited fans showing up and trying to stir up drama? not even a bts fan, but I respect them because bts helped junior kpop artists gain global recognition
- Let them bark b****s do everything except pay attention to their own faves
- They get so desperate everytime other fandoms show interest and respect to bts. They have inferiority complex and need a job. Sorry you have to deal with their stupidity
- ignore them. They have nothing from their favs so they park on BTS related tweets hoping to get attention. Thank you for being this kind to our leader. If he posted the song must be amazing.
- I think it's a known fact by now that those 2 fandoms are spreading hate about any idol breathing that are not their fave. They really need a job

- BTS supports junior artists and receives mutual respect from the fandom. Of course, this made other fandoms feel irritated because their idols didn’t receive the same kind of attention. They also hate seeing ARMYs getting along well with other fandoms
- Those people are truly pathetic. Just ignore them and keep hyping up NMIXX
- Let them hate all they want. We don’t stoop to their level. ARMYs also support NMIXX and are grateful that NSWERs show respect to RM
