With the rise of social media, it seems like one of the hottest things in K-Pop is doing TikTok challenges. Idols will create routines for their songs, and other artists will get involved. Along with showcasing their talent, it has created some iconic moments between idols who wouldn’t otherwise dance together.
Recently, two artists that have created their own TikTok challenge are BTS and J.Y. Park.
Of course, the two challenges are completely different, with the HYBE artists covering BTS’s track “Run BTS,” which has powerful choreography…
So it meant that when members of TXT, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans covered the song, their moves were powerful, and it seemed like the idols were dancing for their lives, even though it was on TikTok.
Compared to J.Y. Park’s “Groove Back,” which is much more old-school and doesn’t require as much power.
It meant that when the likes of TWICE, Stray Kids‘, and Xdinary Heroes did the challenges, it seemed a lot more comedic, with many joking that the idols had been forced to dance to the hilariously classic song.
When the videos of the stars doing the different challenges were put together, several TikTok videos went viral, with netizens loving just how different the two companies were with their recent challenges. Others loved how unserious and comedic the JYP artists were compared to HYBE’s:
- When I see JYP, I can't tell if you want to laugh or cry
- HYBE groups are fans of each other, that's why they dance to each but JYP is abusing of CEO position
- Every agencies showing their support for their legends
Some even joked that while the HYBE artists were more than happy to do the BTS challenge, the JYP stars looked like they’d been forced by J.Y. Park, who founded the company:
- there s different between doing your seniors dance and your ceos dance, free jyp artists
- Noooo ahhaaabut the fact that I'm pretty sure every idol in HYBE got so excited when the manager ask them to do the Run BTS challenge and JYP
- That's when your boss takes on a challenge and you have to do it kkkkkk
Of course, all of the challenges are done out of love, but it isn’t surprising that netizens found the contrast between them so hilarious. While HYBE’s artists took the challenge like a performance, the JYP idols let their hair down and had some fun.
