It seems that it is only a matter of time before BTS will enlist in the army as the results of the Ministry of Defense do not seem to change. Recently, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Bo-gyun also announced that Jin's enlistment schedule will be revealed in December.
Besides, he still commented that the Government is still considering this issue in the most prudent way and ensuring the fairness and activities of BTS. Here is what the Korean press has reported on BTS's military enlistment issue:
The matter of BTS's enlistment has been announced before that it will soon be concluded by the end of this year or early next year because Jin has reached the age of enlistment. But it seems that a decision on this issue will soon come to fruition because according to Minister Park, the National Assembly will make an official announcement in December.
Specifically, On October 5, Minister Park Bo Kyung spoke on the issue of BTS' military service at the National Assembly's parliamentary inspection of the administration. During the inspection, People Power Party member Lee Yong Ho made a request to actively review BTS' military service. Minister Park stated, "Member Jin's enlistment will be set by December".
Moreover, he stated: "We're comprehensively reviewing the issue by taking a look at different aspects, including the fact that national defense is a sacred duty, military service is a symbol of fairness, BTS have made Korea known as the face of K-Culture and created a huge economic ripple, equality issues between popular artists like BTS and those who practice fine arts, the effect on the group when one of the members enlists in the military, public opinion and opinions of men in their 20s, and more."
He also added that the Government as well as relevant ministries will take a stance in December. This decision will include both the time and enlisted barracks that Jin will serve during his enlistment. Thus, it is only a matter of time before Jin will join the military service.
Previously, the Korean press also reported that 2 members of BTS will release a solo album in the fourth quarter of the year and many people believe that one of them is Jin. This could also be the first album in his solo career and also the last album before Jin enlists in the army.
The issue of BTS's enlistment has existed for a very long time with many controversies over whether or not BTS is entitled to special military service because of their achievements to the nation. Even the Ministry of Defense has conducted a large-scale survey to consult the people on this issue.
However, after the results were obtained that more than 60% of the people agreed with the exemption or application of special military service to BTS, the Ministry of National Defense and the Government Office argued that further consideration is needed and it is difficult to change the law of military service. This has caused great discomfort to the public because of the inconsistency of the leaders in this regard.
For BTS, the boys are always ready to enlist in the army and are prepared to do this like any other normal Korean citizen. No matter what, ARMY will always support and wait for the members!
