Released on June 20, 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has become the animated phenomenon of the summer, winning the hearts of au∂ιєnces worldwide. Netflix announced that it is now their most-watched original animated film, while critics have praised its stunning visuals, powerful music, and creative use of кσяєαn cultural elements.
Naturally, the success of this K-pop-themed film is due in part to its incredibly impressive soundtrack. It is the first film ever to have four songs simultaneously enter the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Moreover, the movie’s soundtrack ranked No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart for the week of Aug. 23 and has accumulated over 3 billion global streams to date.
Among them, the standout track is “GOLDEN”, written by singer-songwriter and producer EJAE (Lee Jae), who also voiced the main character — team leader Rumi.
In кσяєα, “Golden” achieved a Perfect All-Kill just one month after the film’s release. The song also topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S., becoming the first K-pop song by a female group — real or fictional — to reach No. 1. In the U.K., it held the No. 1 spot for several consecutive weeks on the Official Singles Chart.
Following the mαѕѕive success of Golden and her role as Rumi, EJAE recently appeared on JTBC’s Newsroom, where she discussed her upcoming music projects — including the top K-pop artists she hopes to collaborate with.
When asked which artist she most wanted to work or produce with, EJAE didn’t hesitate to name BTS’s Jungkook. The singer couldn’t hide her genuine admiration for the K-pop superstar, explaining: “He sings so well. I want to write a good melody for him. It would be an honor to collaborate with him. Being a good singer is important, but lyrical delivery is the most important when you sing and he’s good at it too. The way he’s able to pull off melo∂ιєs and emote with his voice.”
Considering Jungkook’s consistent praise from both industry professionals and fans for his exceptional musical talent — along with his countless record-breaking singles and albums over the past two years — it’s easy to understand why EJAE named him first on her dream collaboration list.
Interestingly, fans also noticed a fun coincidence: both Jungkook and EJAE have released music titled “Golden.”
Jungkook himself happens to be a big fan of the movie. During a livestream with fans, he honestly shared that he watched until the final episode: “I watched KPOP DEMON HUNTERS and I cried. I cried. At the end. When they were doing with the Saja Boys and when she said that she (Rumi) was going to make a Honmoon by herself and ran into the stadium. And I went oh and [tears] dropped,”
In another broadcast with Jimin while the two were in Los Angeles, the BTS duo listened to EJAE’s “Golden” together and talked humorously about the coincidence between the song title and Jungkook’s album name. Then, they even hummed along to the melody.
Beyond being a fan, Jungkook also offered a professional take on the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack. He once pointed out a subtle кσяєαn pronunciation mistake in another iconic track from the film — Soda Pop. According to Jungkook, the correct line should be “seonge chajiana”, but in the original it was recorded as “seonge jachiana.”
He casually remarked, “You see. In the lyrics it’s supposed to be ‘seonge chajiana’ but it’s ‘seonge jachiana’. Seems like it was recorded backwards.” This small discovery quickly drew attention not only from fans but also from Andrew Choi, the singer who voiced Jinu in the film.
In an interview with The Straits Times, Andrew expressed: “The thing that I love about Jungkook is that he sings with such ease, which is a sign of a true vocalist. Jungkook's performance (cover) is 11 out of 10. Jungkook pointed out a mistake in the movie's OST 'Soda Pop.' I didn't even notice it. No one seemed to have noticed it until Jungkook took a listen to it. So thank you, Jungkook, for that.”
In every sense, a collaboration between Jungkook and EJAE would be a dream pairing — and fans are already cheering for it. Some are even excited by the idea that if Netflix expands the Demon Hunters universe, the soundtrack could feature music co-produced by Jungkook and EJAE.
On social media, fans are flooding the comments section with messages like:
- Watching how bh handles the group after ms, I think that asking for a collaboration on TV was actually a brilliant move — now no one can twist the story and claim that what was really desired was another soloist’s or group’s voice. Hoping for this JK solo opportunity.
