Korean Active-Duty Soldiers Have Their Discharge Postponed Indeterminately Under Martial Law

Since around September and October this year, the conflict between North кσяєα and South кσяєα has reached a high level of tension. Fans have also been restless many times because of worrying about the state of Kpop idol artists in this context.

Most recently, Kpop fans have been even more panicked when receiving news related to idols who are enlisting in the military. Although they know that duty to the country in the current context is important, fans cannot help but worry about the future of idols who are serving in the military.

Especially for ARMYs, BTS has 4 members currently performing military service, which is even more noteworthy. Below is the news and fans' reactions:

South кσяєαn President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law in an unannounced late-night speech broadcast live on YTN television on the night of December 3. President Yoon Suk Yeol said he had no choice but to use such measures to protect the free order and the constitution, and accused the opposition parties of using the parliamentary process to push the country into crisis.

In his speech, President Yoon said, “I declare martial law to protect the free Republic of кσяєα from the threat of North кσяєαn communist forces, to eradicate the despicable pro-North кσяєαn anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people, and to protect the free constitutional order".

Under the newly enacted martial law, the entertainment industry is also under "high alert" restrictions, with many major events even being canceled. According to an exclusive report, major entertainment companies have notified their artists not to attend scheduled events starting December 4 due to restrictions on gatherings.

But that's not the most ѕнσ¢кing news for fans! A few minutes ago, a new order was issued in the military with the content: The discharge of active-duty sol∂ιєrs has been indeterminately postponed under the martial law. This makes fans of idols who are enlisting feel scared and worried about their future return.

In particular, BTS currently has 4/7 members enlisting in the military including: RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. There are only about 6 months left until these members are discharged and ARMYs are looking forward to the group's reunion. However, when the new order was issued, the group's future seems to be uncertain!

Although knowing that serving and contributing to the Fatherland is the responsibility and obligation of BTS members as well as many other Kpop stars, fans cannot hide their sadness and anxiety. Fans expressed:

- its serious!! im praying for everyone's safety.

- Active duty sol∂ιєrs now have their discharges postponed. As of right now, Jimin, Jungkook, Namjoon and Taehyung are in the military indefinitely. I don’t know how but this better be over quickly. Somehow. This is not good at all.

- If they keep bts 1 more day then their official discharge I will kidnap them

- DOES THIS MEAN BANGTAN COULD POTENTIALLY NOT COME BACK IN 2025

- Every one in South кσяєα, please stay safe. May god be with you and give you strength

- This is deeply concerning. Freedom of speech and αѕѕembly are fundamental rights.

- Praying for everyone's safety in South кσяєα, our BTS, pls stay safe!!!

- i understand it s*cks to see your kpop idols not being able to discharge anytime soon but also consider this: now is not the f*cking time to make this just about kpop

- stay safe all the sol∂ιєrs including jungkook, jimin, rm, v

- This is not even about which group you are a fan of or whatever issues between fandoms, let’s pray for everyone’s safety, it concerns a lot of people

- Wow this seriously insane, can’t imagine the feeling of family waiting for their son to be free from military and not it getting postpone

Not only that, the safety of sol∂ιєrs in general and BTS members in particular is also soмєтнing that fans are praying for. Fans also expressed their hope that the two countries will soon find common ground and end the tense situation over the past months!
