KATSEYE is a global girl group formed from the audition program "The Debut: Dream Academy", consisting of members Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae. KATSEYE is expected to conquer many au∂ιєnces around the world as the multinational group consists of members selected from different countries.
Among them, member Manon is Ghanaian of Swiss-Italian descent. She is the oldest member of the global girl group KATSEYE.
During a recent live broadcast on Weverse, KATSEYE's Manon shared with fans about her recent condition. Manon confirmed that she is struggling with jet lag and severe illness while in кσяєα to promote her upcoming music show, "Gnarly".
But the most notable point of the broadcast was when the female idol revealed an interesting story about an "embarrαѕѕing" encounter with a BTS member. The exhaustion led her and even some of the group members to this hilarious and embarrαѕѕing situation.
Specifically, the story happened when KATSEYE was leaving HYBE headquarters after a long day of work. They happened to meet a “senior” from the company in the elevator.
“We walk out, and a guy is standing there from a very popular boy group — the same group as j-hope,” Manon recalled.
In her sleep-deprived state, Manon believed that the person standing in front of her, Lara, and Yoonchae was j-hope, who had just met the group at his concert in Los Angeles, California. And, despite being very tired, she decided to greet him warmly, confessing that she almost shouted, “Oh my god! Hi!” — but only received a blank look.
Later, in the car, Manon brought this up with her members because she felt a little disappointed that “j-hope” had been so close to them before, even having a group chat. “I was like, ‘Guys, that’s so weird,’” she said, “‘Does he not remember us?”
But unfortunately for Manon, she was the one who misremembered. Then, her members were like, ‘Girl, it’s not him!’" She recalled, shuddering at the memory: "I thought he was j-hope, because I was so tired. I couldn’t really see him that well. I thought it was j-hope, but it wasn’t".
Unsurprisingly, Manon was embarrαѕѕed by the awkward moment, even though the member handled it tactfully. Despite the mistake, Manon said he was “really chill about it.”
"He just said ‘hi,’ but I could tell that my ‘hi’ was very over the top. For a person that does not know who I am, it might have been a little random to have a girl just be like, ‘Oh my god! Hi!’ because we have never met before”, she recounted.
While fans tried to ask her if the person she mistook was Jin, since he's the only BTS member to be discharged alongside j-hope, she clarified that the BTS member she met wasn't Jin but declined to elaborate further.
Many fans speculated that it could have been SUGA, given the confused expression Manon showed and the fact that SUGA and j-hope have similar body types.
Others recalled that j-hope and SUGA have had quite a few look-alike moments in the past.
Meanwhile, speaking about her friendship with j-hope, she revealed that the KATSEYE members even have a group chat with him where he's always quick to respond (even to "random" questions, like his favorite кσяєαn snack).
“He’s so cool. He’s so funny, so kind, always responds to our texts — literally the nicest human being ever”, Manon shared with excited fans.
