Jungkook Reveals His Fear Of Light Stems From An Eye Condition, Leaving ARMYs Heartbroken

Although it’s not easy for celebrities to show fans the inside of their homes — since it’s a private space and for safety reasons — ARMYs have, on several occasions, been allowed by Jungkook to take a look at how he arranged his million-dollar villa.

He generously showed fans his newly built villa, which features a modern and minimalist design, with a space so large it even includes a private movie room, gym, and gaming room. But what fans remember most is that the entire villa is completely immersed in dark mode — from the wall paint, furniture tones, to the lighting.

Living in darkness seems to have become a habit for Jungkook, as fans have rarely seen any of his live broadcasts over the years with many lights turned on. There are also many videos showing him having a strong “reaction” whenever a ray of light passed across his face.

Because of these things, fans jokingly spread the rumor that maybe he is a handsome vampire from legend, since he seems unable to stand any kind of light shining in his living space!

Of course, that’s just a funny rumor! In fact, during his recent live broadcast where he ate hamburgers on the rooftop of his million-dollar villa with a view of Namsan Tower, Jungkook mentioned, “I can’t see much sunlight, so I take this as my way of enjoying the sun.”

Not allergic to sunlight and not a vampire — so why is his house almost always in the dark? In reality, this comes from an eye condition that fans only recently learned about after he shared it.

Specifically, while playing a computer game, Jungkook suddenly revealed his vision diagnosis. He shared that he had been diagnosed with hyperopia and astigmatism, and therefore, he couldn’t look at screens for too long. He had requested prescription glαѕѕes to help correct his deteriorating vision.

He said, “I went to get my eyesight checked. I have farsightedness and astigmatism. They said I have both. But before, I didn’t even realize I was affected. So recently, I was prescribed new glαѕѕes. I’ll play again once I get them. I won’t go easy on you then.”

Hyperopia is a condition where a person can see distant objects clearly but has difficulty seeing objects up close. On the other hand, astigmatism causes blurred vision at all distances. One common feature is that people with such eye conditions are often very sensitive to light, and some cannot tolerate strong light shining directly into their eyes.

Many fans finally realized that this explains why he has seemed to “avoid” or “shun” light in recent years. Fans with similar eye conditions also confirmed this. Many people think that those with poor eyesight need bright light to see better, but in fact, people with astigmatism often dislike it.

After that, many fans and netizens expressed concern about the idol’s health, worrying that this condition could affect his work and career. Some who share the same condition as Jungkook even offered eye care advice and suggested that he should wear glαѕѕes regularly:

- That's why he is very sensitive to lights

- astigmatism is so weird like for those that are not affected by it are so lucky

- Looking at TV or phone/computer inthe dark is very bad for eyes. I hope he uses his glαѕѕes and sit in the light or do laser. I did over 20 yrs ago as a teen, my eyes was 20/ 20 until recently old age approaching I am far sighted lol

- I have the same problem in my eyes as you don't worry it'll be okay

- Try wearing some radiation eyeglαѕѕes while playing in the dark or shades during the daytime Sir... Or whatever prescription glαѕѕes your doctor is recommending you Sir.

- That’s why his home is so dark. Poor guy is very sensitive to bright light

- been dealing with astigmatism for 7 yrs already and God it’s so hard

- I hope he'll take good care of himself I notice a lot of us developed vision problems [ I have Myopia [ Nearsighted ] & wear glαѕѕes as well only when my eyes Era tired ] I hope who doesn't suffer from one of those problems to be careful not to develop it

- Awww, i hope he is better now but too low light is really not good for your eyes, Jungkook ah

- Now I understand why he reacts that way whenever a sudden flash of light appears on the screen — that’s awful. I wonder how he manages to survive all the camera flashes.

- Actually, l don't like my home very bright ,but not as dark as his. l keep my blinds and curtains closed
