Jungkook Confesses His Most Terrifying Obsession Since BTS's Dorm Days And It Still Haunts Him Now

Considering him from every angle, both physically and mentally, ARMYs would undoubtedly rank Jungkook among the bravest members of BTS. While other members—even the oldest in the group—often fear many things like ghosts, heights, or extreme sports, the Golden Maknae seems to be afraid of almost nothing.

Jungkook can jump off a swing without hesitation, and he even eagerly participates in bungee jumping challenges from incredibly high cliffs… Just watching is heart-stopping, many other idols would quit, but Jungkook remains completely calm, even excited, when faced with such activities.

Fans also know that Jungkook has a strong personality and a tendency to confront challenges head-on. He participates in numerous sports like boxing, gym workouts, and taking on challenging dance moves require both mental and physical strength.

Therefore, it’s hard to imagine anything that could make him flinch or feel fear. However, in reality, Jungkook has also shown that he is entirely human and has a fear that has haunted him from his teenage years into adulthood. This fear is actually more peculiar than fans might imagine: he is afraid of microwaves!

Specifically, during a conversation with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host was visibly surprised when Jungkook mentioned that a microwave was his biggest fear.

Jimmy prompted: "I was looking through some interviews with you, and this question made me laugh. It said, ‘What is the scariest thing in the world for you?’ And your answer was: ‘A microwave. I always worry that it will explode.’ What are you talking about?"

Jungkook shyly admitted: "Well, when I was young, I used to be afraid." The BTS singer then went on to mimic the sound of an explosion to explain why he is afraid of microwaves.

Things like bungee jumping or ghost hunting are small feats for Jungkook, but a microwave is a whole different matter! His fear likely stems from an incident during his trainee days while living in the BTS dorm.

At that time, BTS often went to convenience stores to buy food because they didn’t have much money. On one occasion, Jungkook bought a cheese stick, and the cashier advised him that the cheese would melt perfectly and taste best if microwaved for 10 seconds.

However, Jungkook decided to leave it with the food for about 30 seconds, despite objections from the other members. When he finally took it out, he regretted it and even exclaimed, “No, no, oh my god.”

It turned out that the cheese had melted out of its container because it had gotten too hot. The scene looked pretty alarming—if he had delayed even one more second, the microwave could have “exploded” immediately. Since then, Jungkook has never dared to microwave a cheese stick for more than 10 seconds and has maintained a heightened caution toward this rectangular appliance.

Some fans admit that using a microwave sometimes gives them a similar feeling to Jungkook’s. This makes the K-pop superstar feel more relatable to them, and most find his fear utterly adorable:

- Jungkook's fear of microwaves is quite unique and endearing! It's interesting how childhood fears can stick with us

- Ahahaha this weirdly cute

- The little pause before still afraid. This is the cutest I don’t know everrrrrr

- Haha. Im more afraid of a hairdryer to blow up and me loosing all my hair, or remote control to explode when i throw it onto the sofa. Damn, we all got our fears.

- My gosh. Even his reason was same with mine. Wow. Now I know I have someone I can share that fear with and why.

- Me too. I dont have microwave at home. Its radiation if too much is going to cause lethargy and some symptoms for some weak people. That is my belief.

- I find myself deeply concerned about the tiny radiation particles going inside me everytime I use the microwave

- This is so relatable. This is why I don’t like using the microwave

- omggg he's so meeeeeee bestieeee entonces quien va a calentdar la comida!??!?!?!

- Keep every single microwave away from him

- The way we knew he was gonna say that based on that pregnant pause

- He's so real for this though I'm also kind of afraid of the pressure cooker thinking it'll explodr
