Saju, a traditional кσяєαn мєтнod of fortune-telling based on the Five Elements, literally refers to the Four Pillars of Destiny. It is based on four aspects of a person's birth: the year, month, day, and hour. These four pillars are used alongside various divination practices in кσяєαn astrology to interpret a person's personality, destiny, and the elements believed to be most compatible with them.
One interesting aspect of Saju is its close connection to the Five Elements and colors. For example, Wood is commonly αѕѕociated with green, while Fire is represented by red, orange, and pink. Each person is believed to have a different balance of the Five Elements in their Saju chart, with certain elements being stronger, weaker, or relatively lacking.
A Saju practitioner examines which elements need to be supplemented to bring the entire chart into balance. One of the most common ways to do this is through the use of colors chosen according to Saju. These are considered the colors most compatible with a person's birth chart, as they are believed to support the Five Elements and restore balance to the overall chart.

Interestingly, recent comments from BTS members have revealed that at least two of them are particularly interested in this traditional belief: V and Jungkook.
During an exclusive interview with вяαzιℓian media outlet CazéTV, the members were asked to choose the jerseys they thought they would actually wear. Jungkook quickly picked a navy blue jersey and said, “I like this blue one.” Meanwhile, V was seen hesitating between a red jersey and a blue-and-red one before turning to Jungkook to ask which color he thought would be better.
Sounding quite knowledgeable, Jungkook advised him: “You don’t have fire in your saju, so you should go with red. Mine is мιѕѕιиg water, so I'll take the blue one.” The two then burst into laughter when they realized that their chosen colors looked like the colors of the South кσяєαn flag when put together.
When asked to explain their choices, V offered a similar explanation: “In кσяєα, we have a chart called saju. And I don't have fire in my saju, so I chose red because I need to make up for that.” The host was impressed and responded, “I loved that explanation, great!” Jungkook then explained that his reason was similar to V's, adding, “I chose blue because it matches my energy.”
The members' revelation came as a surprise to fans, particularly when it came to Jungkook. ARMY are used to seeing the idol wear dark-colored outfits, especially black, to the point that many believe nearly two-thirds of his wardrobe consists of black clothing. As the youngest member of the group, Jungkook might not have seemed like someone who paid much attention to traditional beliefs. Fans were therefore surprised to learn that he takes Saju so seriously and even follows its recommendations.

Longtime fans, on the other hand, may be less surprised by V's strong belief in Saju and the significance of the color red. Looking at the number of outfits he has worn onstage, red clearly makes up a considerable portion of his wardrobe. During a conversation with fans, V also openly shared: "I like 'saju'. I was told to find 'fire' because there was no fire in my fortune but only water, so I am wearing in red."
V's previous revelation also caught fans' attention when it came to the changing colors of his microphone and in-ear monitors. He used to have a green microphone and matching in-ear monitors, but over the past few years, he has switched his entire set of accessories to red and has been using them regularly. It seems that after discovering his Four Pillars chart, V began changing various items around him to help balance his Saju chart.

Fans couldn't help but find it endearing that both V and Jungkook pay such close attention to traditional кσяєαn beliefs, commenting: "They listened to the saju well", "Taehyung is spiritual I like that....", "I sometimes think it's because Taehyung was raised by his grandmother in a small town. It is so cute. Praying to the angels, consulting fortune tellers, believing in lady ghosts in elevators...", "Omggg water and fire in the big 2026", "Whatever that fortune teller told them, she did a good job", "They went to the fortune teller together. I'm sure", "Gen Z idol and their belief in Saju...They're so obsessed with this lmao",...
