Although fandoms may sometimes clash with one another, idols from different groups can actually be very close friends in real life. Among the many well-known friendships in K-pop, the bond between Jungkook of BTS and Mingyu of SEVENTEEN is often referred to by fans as a “golden duo.”
Not only do they possess striking visuals, talent, and successful careers, but they are also admired for maintaining a decade-long friendship dating back to their trainee days. Their relationship is closely tied to the famous “97-line”—a group of idols born in 1997, including Cha Eunwoo of ASTRO, Yugyeom of GOT7, Jaehyun of NCT, and several others.

Although they rarely mention each other directly in the media, Jungkook and Mingyu’s friendship has been consistently shown in subtle but meaningful ways over the years: going out together during their free time, standing up for each other against inappropriate questions during livestreams, promoting each other’s music, and even attending concerts to show support.
Earlier this year, Jungkook was spotted attending the CxM [Double Up] Live Party 2026 in Incheon to cheer on Mingyu and S.Coups’ unit. In return, Mingyu drew attention when he flew back to кσяєα from Manila last month just in time to attend the final day of BTS’s concert in Goyang, demonstrating his unwavering support for his close friend.

Recently, it seems the two have become more open about their friendship—by subtly “going public” with matching items following overlapping schedules in נαραи!
Specifically, on the 23rd, fans noticed that Jungkook and Mingyu were wearing identical accessories when they appeared at the airport on the same day, albeit heading to different destinations—Jungkook departing for Tampa, USA, while Mingyu flew to Kaohsiung. The items that caught attention included a Goro’s XL Silver and Gold Feather with Metal – Right Facing necklace and a ring from Chrome Hearts. Notably, the Goro’s necklace is only available at the brand’s single store in Harajuku/Omotesando, Tokyo.

This coincidence became even more intriguing when looking back at their prior schedules in נαραи. Jungkook had been there since the 15th to prepare for his Tokyo Dome concert, and after performing on the 18th, he spent additional time отдыхing and hanging out before returning to кσяєα on the 21st. Meanwhile, Mingyu also arrived in נαραи on the 18th to prepare for his performance at the “Cross Generation Live” festival held on April 20–21.
With both of them being in נαραи during the same period, combined with their appearance wearing similar accessories shortly after, fans believe they likely had the chance to meet up, hang out, and even shop together. For longtime close friends, sharing similar fashion tastes or owning matching items is hardly surprising.
Although there has been no official confirmation, these “hints” alone were enough to excite the fan community. Many fans also pointed out that this time, Mingyu may have finally fulfilled a wish he once regretted мιѕѕιиg—spending time with Jungkook in Los Angeles back in August 2025. At the time, Jungkook was in LA working on BTS’s ARIRANG album, while Mingyu was there for his own schedule. However, they couldn’t meet due to timing issues. “I did contact Kookie in LA but my jetlag was so bad that after our shoots, I couldn’t leave after coming home because I had no energy so I worked and slept, worked and slept so I couldn’t meet up with him", Mingyu explained when asked by fans.

Fans have since flooded social media with comments reacting to this adorable moment between the two close friends: "So they definitely met in נαραи LMAOO. So adorable", "They’re like high school bros even though they’re already in their 30s", “This time Mingyu finally got to hang out with Jungkook—they must’ve had so much fun", “After all these years, nothing has changed. They’re like twins", “I love their friendship", “That necklace is really hard to buy. You even need face and ID verification, so they must have gone together to get matching ones",...
