Today, "BTS's first veteran" Jin was discharged from the army amid the joy of his members, friends, and fans. 18 months in the army was a long and precious time for him and his fans.
Therefore, Jin inevitably had special feelings on this occasion. In the broadcast immediately after, BTS's eldest brother shared about the tearful moment on the day of his discharge:
Jin completed his active duty military service at the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon, Kyunggi-do Province and was discharged at around 8:50 am on the 12th. He walked out of the main gate of the recruit training battalion, hugged and greeted the military officials and his teammates, and burst into tears.
On this day, all BTS members, except SUGA, who is working as a social worker, gathered to congratulate Jin on his discharge in front of the barracks. It is known that RM, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook took time off to attend this special event of the group's eldest member. RM, who is serving in the military band, even brought a saxophone and played 'Dynamite' to celebrate.
Jin was the first member of BTS to enlist on December 13, 2022, and is serving as an αѕѕistant instructor at the 5th Army Recruit Training Battalion in Yeoncheon. After 18 months, his military service ended on June 12, marking the return of Worldwide Handsome. He also held a live broadcast right after leaving the barracks to inform ARMYs.
Notably, in the cute conversation after nearly 2 years, Jin honestly shared his feelings when returning to being a free citizen. It is worth noting that Jin mentioned that he burst into tears on the day of his discharge. He said, "I was so happy that I cried. I tried not to cry but I cried twice."
Regarding this, Jin explained more clearly about his feelings at that time: "As a sol∂ιєr, I told my team in the military: 'Never cry. I will cry too'. But the friends who lived with me for 1 year and 6 months all cried. My friends were letting me go, but they were sobbing. I couldn't help but cry."
Not only that, Jin's army friends also gave Jin a poster with many messages. Jin joked that it was a bit harsh to say, but he was confident that he had done a good job in the army. He continued: "Sol∂ιєrs call them warriors. On top of that, the positions are called lieutenant officers. I did a great job of creating a great atmosphere where I was by bringing them together between warriors and officers. So we all cried when we broke up."
This morning, in the video recorded by the media, we can also clearly see the moment Jin mentioned. When Jin walked out of the Training Center and gave his sincere greetings to his army colleagues, many of them were in tears. Jin advised a comrade, "Don't cry," but as soon as he walked away, he wiped his tears away.
