Before joining Big Hit Entertainment, some members of BTS had the opportunity to approach other big entertainment companies. One of them is the famous story between Jin and SM Entertainment.
With a standard visual of what SM Entertainment is looking for, Jin once received an offer from this company. Even so, as we have seen, he has become part of BTS.
And the reason behind Jin not signing a contract with SM Entertainment was shared by him below:
Just like Jungkook was offered by many famous companies, Jin was also approached by SM Entertainment staff when he was a high school student. Possessing the perfect beauty and aura of an idol, SM Ent once came and offered him a casting offer.
Jin even went to SM Ent's audition and successfully completed the audition causing SM to offer him a contract. But for the rest of the story, as we have seen, he didn't join SM.
Most fans know the story of Jin turning down SM Entertainment to join Big Hit Entertainment (and now HYBE). But maybe we are all curious as to why he didn't sign with them even after he was successful in the audition.
The general reason Jin gave was because at the time he was dreaming of becoming an actor, not an idol. It could also be an influence that he wasn't ready to join SM to become an idol.
However, there is another story that Jin once told and that is the real reason that led to the contract between him and SM not working. It's even a funnier story than we imagined.
Jin revealed that SM Entertainment approached him at the age of fifteen, many years before Big Hit Entertainment staff spotted him on the street. He went to the audition and then SM staff contacted him again to invite him to sign the contract.
After thinking for a while, he finally decided not to go. But the special thing is that at that time, SM Entertainment has emerged as one of the biggest entertainment companies in Korea with artists like BoA, DBSK, and HOT ... SM Entertainment can open many doors for Jin's career, so why did he turn them down?
Simply because he is "fearful", but his fear is very different. Jin confessed that he thought the person was cheating on him. Jin is suspicious when strangers approach him and he thinks they have bad intentions. Teenager Jin was even more likely to run away if they approached him.
As a teenager, Jin was still not quite ready to become a star, but the loss of SM Entertainment at the time turned out to be HYBE's gain later on. It seems that Big Hit's staff came at the right time compared to SM Entertainment.
