Competition between K-pop fandoms is almost inevitable. Sometimes it's healthy, serving as a natural source of motivation, but at other times it escalates into toxic conflicts. Even groups from the same company that have consistently shown public support and affection for one another, such as BTS and CORTIS, cannot guarantee that their fandoms will always get along. In recent days, tensions have emerged between a portion of ARMYs and Coers.
Some BTS fans have accused CORTIS's recent promotional campaigns—such as handing out flyers on the streets for REDRED—of "copying" what BTS did during their rookie days. Others have criticized certain CORTIS fans for being disrespectful toward BTS. On the other hand, many Coers have argued that ARMYs are "trying hard to hate on Cortis," claiming they are simply jealous of the young group's early success.
The debate also expanded after some Coers expressed frustration over being labeled "ARMY's successors." They argued that CORTIS doesn't need mαѕѕ-streaming campaigns to become popular and can instead build its reputation through quality music and a loyal fanbase.
Although many ARMYs and Coers have called for mutual respect, the arguments showed no signs of slowing down until... Jin personally "settled" the matter with one emphatic statement during BTS's latest livestream.
The conversation began when the members started complaining about Weverse's latest update. Jin expressed his frustration that he could no longer easily access other artists' Weverse communities like before. When Jimin jokingly asked whether he had been trying to visit girl groups' Weverse pages, Jin immediately protested in mock outrage, "I TRIED TO GO INTO TXT!!!" RM, however, cautiously reminded his older member, "It's just gonna be a nuisance." But the highlight of the conversation came when Jin confidently declared: "But TXT and Cortis are like family!"
Jin didn't stop there. He continued reinforcing that sentiment during another conversation with the BTS members about meeting BigHit's younger artists at the Paris fashion show, where both j-hope and Jimin had attended over two days. Jimin even took photos and had a brief conversation with the CORTIS members, who adorably appeared shy while standing in front of their superstar seniors.
V kicked off the discussion by saying, "I think Martin is about... 2 metres tall." Jin immediately chimed in, "That one grows by 5cm each pαѕѕing day, isn't he like 2m?" RM guessed the younger idol's height, "190? I think he's around that height." V then recalled, "Remember when we went to greet them last time?" While Jimin reacted in surprise, "He's THAT tall?", RM couldn't hide his playful envy, saying, "Wow, I was so envious of that."
Seeing the perfect opportunity, Jin decided to "set RM straight," saying, "Namjoon-ah! As a senior, you've gotta have a pride! You have to greet them from a higher position, don't you?" When RM seriously asked, "And how do I do that?", Jin began preaching his hilarious solution: "From now onwards, all of you take a chair when you go to greet them, and right before you do, say 'hold on a sec!', pull out your chair, get on top of it, and stare down at them like 'Ah, Hi Martin!' Got it?"
V then added another joke: "No, no, we can say 'Hey you! Sit down!'", only for Jin to immediately reject it: "Nah that's too coercive. It's better for you to just carry a chair with you."
The lighthearted conversation painted a picture completely different from the arguments taking place across social media. While some fans continue debating online, the artists themselves consistently show affection, respect, and treat one another like family. Jin's statement, "TXT and Cortis are like family," served as a gentle reminder for fans on both sides to reconsider how they treat each other. Many neutral fans shared the same sentiment, commenting:
