Argentina is not only famous for football but also known for its incredibly pαѕѕionate concert culture. One of the most remarkable moments in Buenos Aires this weekend was the crossover between legendary football icon Lionel Messi and K-pop superstars BTS, as the group returned to Argentina for a series of concerts marking their first visit back in 13 years since their debut.
During the final performances at Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona, BTS members appeared wearing Argentina national team jerseys bearing the number 10 — the iconic number αѕѕociated with Messi. The group also performed the familiar goal celebration, pointing both index fingers toward the sky as a tribute to the local football legend. Meanwhile, the giant LED screens displayed a series of fan-created images representing Argentina, ranging from Messi and Maté tea to Gaucho culture.

However, amid these joyful moments between the idols and their fans, an AI-generated image υиєχρє¢тє∂ly became a controversial topic within the ARMY community. Notably, Jin himself brought up the image during the ending ment of the third concert.
While praising the Argentine au∂ιєnce for knowing how to enjoy themselves, Jin said, “You’ll definitely be one of the countries that know how to enjoy yourselves the most in the entire world.” Still, there was soмєтнing on his mind that he wanted to share with fans before leaving. The idol explained that he had spotted an interesting picture during the performance — an AI-generated image of Messi kissing him on the head.
“AI is such a scary thing. The person who made this photo — oh, right, that person over there!” Jin said, pointing toward a fan holding the picture. He then jokingly complained, “I wish the person who made it had used a more handsome photo of me, it's a pity/bummer(or its unfortunate/sad*). Next time, please use a better-looking photo of me\~” Even so, he ended his remarks by saying he had a great time and bidding the au∂ιєnce goodbye.
Since Jin appeared to deliver his message in a relaxed manner, with an adorably pouty tone, fans attending the concert took it as a lighthearted, playful complaint and immediately burst into laughter. On social media, some ARMY also enjoyed his sense of humor as he directly addressed the image that had been circulating for days.
However, not everyone saw his remarks as nothing more than a joke. Some fans believe he was not trying to be funny and was genuinely uncomfortable with the image. They argue that Jin was making a subtle but respectful yet clear request not to use photos of him from his military enlistment period, when he had a short buzz cut in late 2022.
These fans also pointed out that such images are αѕѕociated with a particularly sensitive and emotional period for both Jin and ARMY. From this perspective, his request for a better-looking photo could be a sign that he does not want images like that to continue being edited or turned into AI-generated memes.

The debate also centers on the fact that Jin is widely known for caring about his appearance. Some ARMY believe that while memes can be part of fan culture, there should still be limits — especially since this is not the first time Jin has spoken up about unflattering photos of himself being used as jokes. The heated discussion on social media included comments such as:
- He is not trying to be funny here. He meant it. DO NOT USE HIS MS PHOTOS IN ANY MEME AND MAKE FUN OF IT. He loves you guys so much and he is so respectful to everyone of you. SHOW HIM SOME RESPECT FOR ONCE
- If seokjin isn’t comfortable with it please guys don’t use that photo anywhere not even on social media or at concerts. we all know when that photo was taken and how painful that moment was for both him and us. please let’s never do this again and respect his decision.
- That photo in question was already a topic of debate a while ago, and people were told NOT to use it because it wasn't a happy moment for him—quite the opposite. Yet, they keep using it to make fun of it.
- First of all, SJ’s ending ment wasn’t a joke meant to make people laugh. He was asking fans as gently as possible. i-ARMY, when making banners, please just use any of the many normal, handsome, and beautiful photos of him. I’m begging you
- He didn’t feel comfortable with his MS photo being used as a meme. Thank u seokjin for speaking up about this issue bcs it’s always frustrating to see people making jokes about it w/o any respect at all
- Love Seokjin more and more. He point this out directly in the most respectful and public way. Make those ppl who used this photo has no excuse. n he keeps this until the last night of the concert to point this out. Genius od confrontation and so mature
- THANK YOU JIN. Thank you for always sharing your thoughts with such sincerity and respect. Anyway, I really hope that’s the last time that photo is used for whatever purpose. Respecting his limits is the least we can do.
- In case you want to come and twist his words, he’s asking you as politely as possible to stop using those SM photos, to stop editing him in ridiculous ways, and to respect a vulnerable moment he had. In case you still don't get it, it's called BASIC RESPECT
