Food allergies are not uncommon in anyone, including famous K-pop idols. TWICE’s Momo once confirmed that she was allergic to salmon, while Jihyo said that every time she ate pineapple, her throat became itchy. Another case to mention is SEVENTEEN’s Vernon, who is allergic to peanuts and pollen, and Seungkwan, who is allergic to raw tomatoes.
Meanwhile, most BTS members are reported to have no severe reactions to foods or ingre∂ιєnts. But Jin is a noteworthy case!
In the past, Jin revealed his garlic allergy when he said: "I was allergic because I was tickled" and emphasized: "I was ѕнσ¢к to watch out for garlic. Where's the food without garlic?".
Jin was referring to the itchy throat or discomfort he experienced after eating garlic or dishes that contain garlic. This is a common reaction in mild allergies when coming into contact with an irritant.
Jungkook also expanded on this detail when he said in a Run BTS episode where the group participated in a cooking challenge: "He's allergic to potatoes. He's allergic to potatoes and garlic. It's tough as a кσяєαn person".

Garlic is an essential cooking ingre∂ιєnt in кσяєαn cuisine. From soups, stews, to grilled dishes and dipping sauces, garlic is used to enhance the flavor and add depth to the dish. кσяєαns often use garlic in fresh form, minced, pickled, or roasted.
For Asians in general and кσяєαns in particular, garlic is not only a seasoning but also considered a health-boosting ingre∂ιєnt. However, for someone allergic to garlic like Jin, it is truly a difficult challenge.
Nevertheless, recently, fans noticed that Jin seems to have overcome his allergy to this ingre∂ιєnt when they saw him casually using it in a mulhwe dish. Specifically, fans saw Jin using a spoonful of minced garlic while mixing fresh raw fish, cabbage, carrots, sugar, cold broth,... during a live broadcast on Weverse Live after his second concert night in Tampa.
This quickly became a hot topic among the ARMY community, where many expressed surprise, curiosity, and concern. Some people believe that Jin may have overcome his garlic allergy, although nothing has been officially confirmed.
Others guessed that he had taken antihistamines – a common medication used to prevent mild allergic reactions for a short period. There were also opinions suggesting that the amount of garlic in the dish might not have been large enough to trigger a strong reaction, or that Jin only had a mild allergy and was able to manage it.
The discussion is spreading among fans with various viewpoints:
- I hope Jin doesn’t have any health issues after today’s live broadcast.
- Hopefully he consulted a doctor if the allergy is still there. Garlic is no joke for those who are sensitive to it.
- Maybe Jin has been training himself to eat garlic, and his body is slowly adapting
- As a кσяєαn, being able to eat garlic again must be soмєтнing he’s been wanting for a long time
- He is asian. I cant handle gluten and milk. Yet I still consume it daily despite it is making my heart burn and a long trip in the bathroom. Asians usually ignore allergy as long as it taste good and dont make us ∂ιє.
- Not every allergy is life threatening, some have mild symptoms, inflammation or an upset stomach. He probably does have some side effects to eating garlic but finds it worth it. it's also possible his symptoms aren't as bad now as they were yrs ago when he was avoiding garlic
- He trying to trick us into thinking he’s not a vampire. Just kidding but I'm happy when he could eat it without allergy
