Although it's only a few hours, Jin will officially enlist in the army within 1 year and 6 months, but it seems ARMYs can't help but react at how Korean officials are treating him. While the military wanted Jin to fulfill his military service, other officials wanted him to appear and promote the World Busan Expo.
Not stopping at this ambition, politicians announced that Jin may be called to perform at public works or even work abroad when it is necessary to promote the World Busan Expo 2030. This making Korean and international ARMYs extremely uncomfortable because they are demanding many things from Jin and BTS.
Meanwhile, others asked the government to create conditions for Jin and his members to complete their military service as an ordinary citizen:
According to military authorities, Jin will enlist at the 5th Infantry Division 5th Recruit Training School in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province this afternoon, December 13. Jin will begin his military life lasting 1 year and 6 months. Jin is expected to be assigned to his official unit after 5 weeks of basic military training at the recruit training school.
Previously, in the political world, politicians have advocated that if BTS members enlist in the army, they must consider the "side effects" of the group's musical interruption. With the reason that BTS has received great love from fans in countries around the world and "promotes the country's prestige" and "If the group's musical activities are interrupted due to enlistment, the damage to national interests will not be small."
However, military authorities predict that even if BTS members like Jin enlist in the army and become soldiers, participation in supporting outside public events according to relevant regulations will not be possible. What's the problem. Military officials and politicians are expected to give Jin "opportunities" to participate in public events or work abroad to attract promotion for the World Busan Expo 2030.
This is based on the current "Military Management Law", soldiers who have served more than 3 months after enlistment will be eligible to be dispatched to support arts and culture related events in the national and military level". If the case is deemed necessary, the Minister of Defense or the Commanding General of the Armed Forces may (exceptionally) send military personnel away immediately upon completion of the mandatory training for recruits. Such "dispatching" is done after the feasibility of the requesting department has been considered, reported and approved by the competent authority.
But contrary to the positive reaction from netizens and fans, this decision makes them feel too unfair to the BTS members, first of all, Jin. They have made many contributions to the nation as inspirational artists. But in the process of serving the country as a citizen, the government is constantly taking advantage of the use of free members to promote the country.
Meanwhile, BTS has carried out many contents to promote Busan Expo 2030, including holding a free concert by themselves before announcing their enlistment plan. Here are the reactions of many people after hearing this news:
- It's ridiculous
- Tann1es are human before anything else, how shameless are they to do this to them? Treating them like fwking tokens. Oh my poor boys :(
- WAIT , as in if there are national events they are requested to attend they should go even if they are in the military?
- omg, they just can’t stop using them
- How they never acknowledge bts once in their life never gave any privilege even though they contribute billions to economy & culture now when the boys finally choose their own path , they are again planning to use our boys again ??? For heaven’s sake someone stop em
- Oh hell no. This is wrong just wrong on so many levels
- This is I’m afraid & worried since few weeks ago. Bc I read from koreans that there’s called ‘public service’ in part of the service. So basically the govt could use them for their benefit purpose in the label of their military service during their period. They didn’t get paid & couldn’t refuse bc it was seen as part of their duty (?)/job when they’re serving in their period of time
- “It is expected” nahhh it was expected for them to give the tannies the exemption after everything they’ve done…
- Bruh there are 70k exempted ppl who is completely free to do your expo shit... Give them the chance. Or give it to those girlgroup's Or Next BTS... Literally so many ppl out there... Why coming for 7 ordinary people who is busy fighting for country on borders?
- Yes including the current president who never enlisted but refused to discuss BTS !
- so they don’t get special benefits like a shortened service time but the gov can use their fame for their benefit only??? hate is paralyzing my mind rn sorry hobi
- because they want bts to perform WITHOUT GETTING PAID
- They better not mess with BTS enlistment plans, BTS members have made a decision to all be back by 2025. I better not see the government trying to push Jungkook’s service (since he has five more years). They better not be using them.
- Just a few hours back was telling a friend that even if they are going doesn't mean they are free of govt exploitation. But I hope this is false and they have a say in what they want to do, and let this period be a period of rest for them from the public eye.
- Can they stop milking the boys for gods sake!!!!
