There is a truth that many fans and members of the public often fail to recognize: while people may feel entitled to discuss celebrities due to the nature of the industry, that does not mean there are no limits to disrespect or rudeness. Moreover, shouldn’t one fear the consequences of their words before saying anything malicious aimed at someone else?
Especially, is it normal to say negative things to a woman—let alone one who is on the journey of trying to have her first child?
Recently, j-hope’s sister, Jung Jiwoo—also a well-known influencer in the fashion industry—has faced numerous insensitive comments from toxic followers on social media. These inappropriate remarks have primarily focused on pregnancy or even miscarriage, despite Jiwoo never having shared any official information on the topic.
In the most recent incident, a malicious individual took advantage of the Instagram Q&A section that Jiwoo uses to interact with her fans, asking in a disrespectful manner: “Are you pregnant?” This triggered j-hope’s sister’s anger.
“Stop asking me~ It's really annoying lol. You should stop spamming. I'll block you now,” Jiwoo responded firmly.
It wasn’t just this single comment that caused her to lose her temper. This marked the N-th time this year that she had received rude inquiries regarding children, including questions about sensitive matters like pregnancy loss, without any factual basis.
Back in June, she had pleaded with the public to show understanding: “There are so many questions about pregnancy today… I’ll let you know first when I get good news someday. I don’t want to get this question. Please...”
Jiwoo mentioned that none of her close friends or family would ever intrude into such private matters. Even j-hope, as a caring brother, only asked about the couple's work & life when they met. Only when Jiwoo herself brought up the subject, saying, “I have to think about having children soon,” did j-hope sweetly respond: “If it's a nephew, we'll have a lot of fun. If it's a niece, I'll spoil her so much and probably buy her a lot of gifts.”
By August, this incident happened once again. Jiwoo reported receiving similar rude comments, including one that read: “Aren’t you pregnant? Or you ℓσѕт the baby? There is no bump and you are wearing tight clothes and doing exercise.”
The fashion CEO had to clarify more that she and her husband are indeed trying to have a child, but currently have no news to share. Importantly, she continued emphasizing that asking such private questions is extremely rude and disrespectful—especially to women who are navigating the challenging journey of conceiving.
Despite repeatedly speaking out to end this discussion, the toxic individuals seem to know no limits, leaving her genuinely frustrated and emotionally affected. Witnessing Jiwoo’s reaction, ARMYs expressed sorrow for what she has endured, particularly during such a sensitive time for her and her family.
Fans also voiced their outrage at those blatantly invading privacy and crossing the boundaries of fandom. They warned that pressuring a woman about childbirth is extremely harmful and called on these individuals to immediately stop their shameful behavior:
- I believe she's mentioned that they are trying but having trouble. She has asked them multiple times to stop asking cause its a very sensitive topic for her. Tbh, they shouldn't be asking anyways cause its none of their business and crossing a line.
- so stupid… ppl don’t realise that 1. not everyone wants kids & 2. some ppl can’t conceive
- other than the Q being rude, its extremely painful for someone thats trying and not be able to conceive. people should really mind their business and read the room sometimes.
- Jiwoo seems so sweet and genuine. People should be ashamed of themselves for asking things like this.
- Seriously, LEAVE THAT WOMAN ALONE. Do people not understand that's rude if she wants to tell you she will. SMDH
- Those stupid people needs to get a life. Leave her alone! Stop asking her the same question again and again it's rude! That's entirely a personal matter
- what if people just STOPA вσмвarding the other members' family and friends with unnecessary questions or comments
- Ppl that keep asking her that have no shame. It’s so rude to ask a woman this
- this also goes for any army who's asking her this question, please don't. hobi's sister has said multiple times that she's not comfortable with anyone asking her this
- Guys… this is SO INAPPROPRIATE!!! Not only bc she’s Hobi’s sister but bc trying for a baby is so personal and so private and everyone’s journey is diff!!! Whoever posted this is so rude
- Jiwoo handled this situation with so much grace. Her strength in standing up for herself is truly admirable
- It's нєαятвяєαкιиg to see women still being questioned like this in 2025. Jiwoo deserves respect, not invasive comments
- Calling out toxic behavior is never easy, but Jiwoo did it with clαѕѕ. I hope more people realize how damaging these comments can be.
- Asking a woman if she’s pregnant — and then questioning whether she had a míscαrríαgє — is soмєтнing that should never happen, whether she's a public figure or not
