Among the female artists who have collaborated with BTS, IU is perhaps the most notable when considering both the number of collaborative projects and her friendships with several members of the group. Not only does she share a well-known close friendship with SUGA because they are the same age, but she also made headlines when j-hope and V appeared on her popular talk show, 'IU's Palette', where both BTS members showed their friendly and open sides with the singer.

In particular, despite never having collaborated with IU or having many interactions with her, Jungkook is a well-known fan of hers to the point that even non-ARMY know about it. And of course, IU's comeback would not be complete without the excitement of one of her biggest fans — Jungkook. On September 8, the idol liked and reposted IU's teaser as a direct way of showing his support for his longtime idol.

Jungkook's latest move delighted fans while also inadvertently bringing back a “complicated” story involving him, SUGA, and IU from around three years ago. At the time, SUGA released a collaboration with IU titled 'People Pt.2'. The song quickly won over listeners and became hugely loved following its release. However, ARMY also quickly noticed that IU's familiar melody and vocal part had actually been sung by Jungkook in a demo that SUGA α¢¢ι∂єитally revealed earlier.

SUGA later officially confirmed this when he appeared on 'IU's Palette'. He shared: "Actually, this song was written 3 years ago. This is the song I wrote before (interpersonal relationship song) Ihad a lot of troubles. At the beginning, it was Jung Kook who sang. I thought, "Who should I sing with?". Actually I was a little worried because we already worked together once so I kept thinking "Can we do it again?" I think working with IU is the best choice!".

At the time, the revelation completely caught IU off guard, and she even felt a little pressured after learning that she had performed a song that held such great meaning for SUGA. With the caption “(very nervous),” the singer responded, "The first time I heard about this".

When the behind-the-scenes story and IU's reaction aired, fans were both surprised and amused, joking that SUGA had “dumped Jungkook” to choose IU for 'People Pt.2'.
