iPhone 17 Or Another Samsung Z Flip? RM Ends The Debate After Showing His New Phone At A Recent Event

The BTS members are divided into two main lines when it comes to smartphones — the Samsung users and the iPhone lovers. As for Samsung, it’s safe to say that every member owns at least one model from the brand, since they served as Samsung’s brand ambαѕѕadors for several years.

However, some members have been confirmed to use iPhones as their primary phones in the past one to two years — namely V and Jungkook. The BTS maknae duo have often been spotted holding Apple devices from the iPhone 15 series or newer. Moreover, they also own several Apple products such as iPads and MacBooks.

Meanwhile, RM has recently become a “suspect” of switching back to using an iPhone after being a long-time fan of the Samsung Z Flip series, due to several suspicious hints.

During a livestream earlier this October, the BTS leader shared about getting used to his new phone: “I recently changed my phone, so my current phone feels a bit unfamiliar and I’m still getting used to it. I’ll naturally share later what kind of phone I switched to.”

This led fans to speculate that his old and new phones might be from different brands, which would explain why the interface of the new device seemed unfamiliar to him. The last time he was seen with a phone — earlier in September this year — it was a sleek black Samsung Z Flip 7.

Therefore, fans did not rule out the possibility that he had switched to an iPhone — a brand widely popular among celebrities and known for its distinct operating system.

The speculation grew stronger when a few days later, RM appeared with a new phone at a wedding where he served as the MC. In photos showing him chatting with the groom in the reception hall, fans noticed that the phone in his hand had an orange color similar to the newly released and trendy Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max.

However, some netizens argued that it also resembled the orange Samsung Z Flip 6. They claimed the phone in RM’s hand didn’t look as large as an iPhone Pro Max and that its edges looked more like a Samsung model.

That theory, however, was proven wrong when RM officially revealed his newly purchased phone on the dinner table at the “Love Your W 2025” event on October 15. Sitting at the head of the table, his presence was easily noticeable in several photos.

Fans immediately spotted the phone placed in front of him — it was orange, and unmistakably the trendy Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max, recently released. At that point, the debate over which brand RM’s new phone belonged to finally ended. The iPhone lovers’ club within BTS had just gained a new member.

Fans joked that RM’s Samsung Z Flip — which he had been seen tossing around carelessly over the years — had served him well enough, and now he’d have to learn how to “handle with care” an iPhone. They also teased that the maknae line might have persuaded their leader to join the trend, while others humorously speculated that SUGA would probably frown at the sight of his new phone:

- He said he got a new phone—did he switch back to an iPhone? Wow SUGA will not like this haha

- When SUGA keep saying "No iPhone, only Galaxy" and his young brothers keep buying the newest version of iPhone

- Most of them probably have 3 phones, i mean he added an iPhone and still used Samsung

- Apple wins this game, poor Samsung. But nobody notices that his hand is so big that he can hold an entire iPhone Pro Max? So attractive, so masculine.

- So from now on, he has to be more careful; he can’t just throw it around or drop it like he did with the Samsung

- namjoon back to being an iphone user after 5 years of z flip phones

- At this point, it’s not a cheap moment anymore — it’s definitely an expensive moment :))))

- He already kicked his flip phone out into somewhere on this earth, huh?

- not to sound insane but i could tell from the quality of the live he did

- Well, let’s be honest — iPhones are better for celebrities because of the photos, social media, and all that, so it’s not really surprising lol.

- SUGA has seen it and is judging this case of Samsung defection
