iKON Member Faces Blacklash After Sharing The Reason He Chose To Diss BTS Instead of EXO

For Kpop fans, the diss rap between RM and Bobby on the 2014 MAMA stage is definitely an unforgettable legendary stage. At that time, those who disliked BTS were able to laugh and gloat while BTS and ARMYs had to bear the sarcasm.

10 years later, Bobby's performance was brought up again and the situation was different. This time, Bobby faced a wave of criticism when he revealed the reason for choosing BTS to diss rap instead of EXO - the other group of the same generation.

Let's see what Bobby's reason was below and why fans reacted so strongly to his statement:

In the early years of BTS's debut, ARMYs could not forget how badly the group was treated by not only a part of the public but also by people in the industry. In the past, many artists had directly "disparaged" the group just because they came from a small company and had not achieved much.

Bobby's diss rap stage at MAMA 2014 was also listed as one of them. Although rap beef is a common culture among artists, what makes that stage memorable to ARMYs is that Bobby indirectly made the hatred and attacks against BTS grow stronger. In other words, because Bobby was also an influential person at that time, his statements made BTS's situation worse.

Although 10 years have pαѕѕed, this diss rap stage once again became a hot topic of discussion when Bobby appeared on the show Moneychord. The clip showed Bobby recounting the time when he dissed RM and BTS and recalling why he chose to drag BTS instead of EXO in the song "Come Here" in 2014.

The host asked Bobby how he felt about dissing RM and he replied, “At the time, people were asking, ‘Why doesn’t he dare to go after EXO?’ Truth be told, I was worried I’d get in trouble if I dissed EXO… I couldn’t afford to make more enemies.” In 2014, EXO was the top boy group to win the Daesang award and had a large fanbase while BTS was just a new rookie. This partly explains Bobby's decision better.

However, Bobby's answer immediately received a wave of anger from ARMYs, once again. Fans felt angry because Bobby's diss rap came from a lack of respect, even contempt for BTS. He didn't dare to bring EXO's name into his song because they were a big name that year but BTS was different, they were just rookies from a small company.

Many fans expressed that Bobby's thoughts were inappropriate and even questioned whether he would have ever thought of dissing EXO if they were in a similar situation to BTS in 2014:

- mind you this man dissed joon 3 times and the third time was one day before MAMA 2014 when tannies were already going through a hard time.. also joon only had one day to prepare yet he ATE him up

- YOOOO HE CALLED HIM TONE DEAF RAPPER. Istg if i was bob I would quit immediately lmfao

- Underground rappers were scared of a 13 yr old. Like he had the AUDACITY to diss him. Joon ate him up and left no crumbs lmaoooo

- Big 3 privilege is crazy because not only did he pick on the underdog at the time but BTS were older as a group, just disrespectful and nasty

- beefing with a rookie from a small company is really loser behavior

- I bet he wished he should’ve dissed EXO

- i remember how iconic and kpopies denied whats written in bts book just for it to be true. good that this pill popper bobby and his khia group is nowhere now. acted high with their big3 privilege, it came crashing down all lol.

- This is why Armys are so protective of BTS. If the other artist deemed another artist weak. It’s so easy for them to do this sh*t. All the hate was deserved.

- So two things proved one he dissed bts ..second he was afraid of big 3 privilege... I still remember how kpoppies and his fans changed whole narrative, accused 875 and rm words in the book. They even said BTS spreading fanwars for sharing their experience.

- BTS the underdogs that u were, now they the biggest kpop artist in the world

Meanwhile, back on December 2, 2014, iKON's Bobby collaborated with Masta Wu to release the song "Come Here" on the MAMA stage - where BTS performed the next day. In the rap, Bobby wrote: "They call me a monster, I’ve never called myself that. You all are completely made of glαѕѕ, much better than the basement dungeon. If sкιℓℓ equals to looks, I’m Won Bin in front of a bulletproof glαѕѕ. If I make a нιт, I rake up all the work of the tone-deaf rappers..."

Responding in a later interview, RM was careful to say that he wasn't offended by the diss rap and considered it a friendly tease rather than malicious. The BTS leader also immediately shouted out his response in the 2014 MAMA Day 2 performance.  RM repeated Bobby's verse, sarcastically saying: "Put your guard up and follow me rapper, tone-deaf rapper...

Later, through BTS Beyond The Story, RM also admitted that Bobby's actions at that time made the group fall into a difficult, battered situation:  "We were in the position of trying to crawl up somehow. In those days, every day was full of really upsetting, underhanded, and frustrating situations, and then in my case, that thing happened with Bobby. I was already really eager and desperate, so I was somehow dragging myself forward, and I thought I was really on the verge of a big burst, when it felt like someone came with a pin and popped a balloon."
