In the early years when the current BTS members joined the BTS project, they were not good at all aspects of being an idol as they are now. While RM or SUGA were chosen by Big Hit Music for their qualities as rappers and music producers, j-hope’s advantage was dancing, and Jungkook received an invitation from BTS thanks to his singing after casting on Superstar K3 in 2011.
This also means that the initial αѕѕet of the Golden Maknae was his pαѕѕion for singing, and only when he came to Big Hit Music did he begin to practice dancing. At that time, Jungkook did not have outstanding dancing sкιℓℓs like now. He also started from zero with choreographer Son Seung Deuk.
Realizing Jungkook’s great potential in this field, teacher Son decided to take the young boy to the U.S. to be exposed to hip hop culture for a month. Since returning from that trip, just as the choreographer predicted, Jungkook’s entire dancing ability has been strongly revealed and has become increasingly perfected.
Now, it can be affirmed that although he takes on the role of a vocalist, he possesses dancing sкιℓℓs no less than other idols specializing in dance. Along with j-hope and Jimin, Jungkook has always been one of the three dance pillars of BTS, taking on choreographies of high difficulty.
To clarify Jungkook’s “admirable” dancing level and technique, a former idol trainer analyzed and gave detailed comments after watching live performances. With many years of experience working with trainees and different idols, he gave fans a professional perspective.
He began by mentioning, "As an idol trainer, I can say that, in short, Jungkook is an unrealistic person [...] He's not only good at singing, but also has excellent dancing sкιℓℓs that would allow him to become the main dancer of any other group. [...]".
In particular, he made everyone laugh when he compared: "If my student could dance like Jungkook, I would cry because of being touched."
Although he said so, he also acknowledged that Jungkook’s dancing ability did not come naturally. He understood that to reach such proficiency in every dance step as now, Jungkook had to put in many times more effort than usual.
He continued: "Every dancer can see how much effort he puts into dancing to do that. Jungkook's dance moves aren't the type just by talent. Of course, he is talented. If you want to do well in BTS, you need talent, but his dance moves tend to be made of more and more effort beyond talent. Effort with trying to shed вℓσσ∂, sweat and tears in every step."
Not only that, besides the effort and hard work when practicing dance, the key point also lies in Jungkook’s clear understanding of each of his own strengths and weaknesses, thereby calculating every movement, creating his own style.
The idol trainer made the comment: "Like Rock Lee in Naruto. When he dances, he doesn't skip a single movement, and dances all moves with energy reaching every cell in his body.
When you practice a lot, you get used to the choreography and you get to know where all the key points are. Then, people tend to discard or trim off the dance moves that aren’t key points of the choreography. But Jungkook doesn’t discard any moves, making him the kind of dances that choreographers love the most.
Even his dance style is a perfect textbook. When a choreographer makes a dance, they have a vision in their mind that would make dancers perform in a certain way. Jungkook delivers the choreography exactly the way the choreographer envisions it. Bad dancers make their own interpretations of the dance and trim or discard certain moves and then say, ‘this is my style’ as their excuse.
If you’ve fallen for Jungkook’s dance among all the diverse styles, it’s probably because of his pαѕѕion that has been built over the many years of his career and his rule of not allowing any of the dance moves to be discarded and his exemplary attitude when it comes to dancing.”
Finally, he expressed envy toward Jungkook’s choreographer teacher for having such an excellent student: "Jungkook knows exactly what the choreographer wants. Mr. Seungdeuk must be very proud to see him. That's why he once said "Jungkook dances knowing how to dance in every movements" because Jungkook understands his intentions".
The comparison between Jungkook and Rock Lee in Naruto highlights one thing: Jungkook not only possesses precise technique but also brings persistence, endurance, and the desire to go beyond limits. That wholeheartedness creates the perfection of each of his performances and is also an expression of professionalism.
On the other hand, anyone can practice hard, anyone can strive to perfect choreography, but reaching the level of Jungkook is soмєтнing not many people can achieve. What makes him different is not only diligence but also the intention in every dance step.
Jungkook clearly understands the strengths and weaknesses of his body, knows how to regulate each movement to both maintain accuracy and convey emotion. He doesn’t just stop at mimicking moves or putting all his strength into dancing mechanically, but also puts himself in the position of a choreographer, as if he himself created that dance.
It is this combination of technique, body awareness, and emotional depth that makes each of Jungkook’s dance steps imbued with personal style, always impressing the au∂ιєnce and experts in the industry!
