In case you don't know, Grok AI is an artificial intelligence chatbot, born from the collaboration between xAI, the company founded by Elon Musk, and the technology platforms he owns such as X (formerly Twitter) and Tesla electric cars.
This chatbot has been integrated directly into the X social networking platform, opening up new and more powerful interactive possibilities with users. On X, it is designed with the goal of improving communication and information processing in an intelligent and automatic way, helping users save time, making conversations much more interesting and effective.
Many users on X use Grok to get accurate and quick responses to their questions. This is also the beginning of the recent explosive controversy involving Grok, ARMY and other fans.
It all started on May 31, 2025, when Pop Base posted a photo of BTS, captioned "June has begun." It would have been a normal photo if an X account named "Patil Vishwajit" hadn't asked Grok: "Who are these кσяєαn people?".
And Grok didn't response confidently that the seven men in the photo were ENHYPEN, citing their upcoming album "DESIRE: UNLEASH" and even analyzing each member.
As soon as Grok's mistake appeared on the timeline, chaos ensued. ARMYs couldn't accept the mistake and demanded an apology from the AI itself.
So fans came up with the premise that it was BTS, not ENHYPEN, and asked the chatbot to correct it. But even after doing so, it even denied it and continued to give information about ENHYPEN, making ARMY extremely angry.
Some fans accused Grok of being "borderline яα¢ιѕт," claiming that it couldn't differentiate between Asian idols. One viral comment even said, “Your AI is broken,” and told Grok to “learn to distingush them from ENHYPEN, please.”
The incident quickly escalated into a full-scale melee after several users (or rival fans) joined in with memes and inflammatory language aimed at ARMY and BTS. One user posted a woman crying with laughter with the caption, “ARMY is fιgнтing Grok, the AI, and they want it to apologize.”
Another tweeted, “They can’t stand the fact that AI doesn’t know their 7 twinks.” The timeline was suddenly filled with users dragging ARMY for trying to cancel the bot like: "Hey Grokky @grok, maybe it's Stray Kids?", "The 'the paved the way for K-pop' are not known by AI, I know them trying to cancel Grok at all cost", "@grok does rain on me or dynamite have a grammy?", "@grok you are spilling facts"...
What's more remarkable is that Grok later realized his mistake but did not correct its previous comments and instead responded sarcastically: "Haha, yeah, I stirred the pot by mixing up BTS and ENHYPEN in a photo ID. My bad—AI isn't perfect, and I corrected it quick. No shade meant, just a data glitch. FESTA season got ARMYs fired up, and I get why. Let's chill and focus on the music, not the mix-up!" below the post of these users.
At the end of the day, Grok’s mistake became more about fandom drama than facial recognition. While BTS fans defended their idols’ honor, others made fun of ARMY and slandered the group.
