BTS is known for their hard work and success. However, many people don't really realize how hard they worked to have the best performances and concerts.
Recently, a former conditioning trainer for BTS participated in an interview and shared about what he witnessed while accompanying BTS. Through this story, we can see how much BTS has paid to be successful.
Kim Jinwoo is known as the former conditioning coach for BTS during the world tour from 2016-2019 (HYYH, Wings, LY). He explained that their role as conditioning trainer includes setting an eating and workout plan, following them on stage to prevent them from injuries during concerts, mental care, emergency care when they get off stage etc...
He shared that on the tours he went with BTS, they carried a lot of luggage. In those years, they were just 20-year-old boys. So many people will think they will prioritize bringing clothes or accessories but in reality, they can leave anything behind to make place for equipment for making music
When he saw the members went up to their hotel rooms, set up the music-making equipment, and worked hard to produce new music even while on tours, making him admire them a lot. He thought that: “Ah [this is why] they can’t help but be successful. I was so surprised then. And I learned a lot from them too. Because they do this, they are successful. They work so hard. Really. They work so hard"
Not only that, the coach also shared that whenever there is a new song, they will practice 10 hours a day until they are satisfied with their performance. Even when holding concerts, they still maintain this practice routine so he felt very nervous and had to be by BTS's side very often to avoid any bad problems.
When he watched their performance from behind the scenes, he felt that BTS put all their heart into each stage. But this made him fear that they wouldn't be able to make the next performances because of exhaustion.
The things he feared happened all the time, he said: "Just as expected, when the performance ends and they coolly exit the stage, there are 2-3 of them who have collapsed. So we carry them backstage and give them oxygen. They’re so serious and care so much about their performances that we always have to be on alert".
Besides, he also shared about the eating plan of them is "Just regular food because it has all sorts of nutrients and it’s not like they’re going to be dieting. [A concert is] a fight to see how awesomely you can show your performances so that’s why they work out while on tour, and we help maintain their conditions".
This coach also revealed his relationship with BTS since no longer working together. He said that since COVID, they have not been together anymore but HYBE has its conditioning team so BTS can maintain good fitness.
But he still remembers when he first met BTS, it made him feel like a relationship between hyung and dongsaengs. And until now, even if they don't see each other often, their relationship is still the same through messages.
