In addition to being a solo artist and a rapper for BTS, SUGA is also renowned as a talented producer who has worked on notable collaborations with various artists in the industry, including IU, PSY, and Suran. Another name that cannot be left out when talking about SUGA's past collaborations is singer Lee Sora!
Lee Sora is a veteran South кσяєαn ballad singer who has been active since the 1990s, with numerous нιтs such as “I'm Happy,” “Proposal,” and “The Wind Blows.” Her debut album, Lee Sora Vol.1, released in 1995, reportedly sold approximately 930,000 copies according to Hanteo Chart statistics, setting a record for the highest-selling solo female artist album at the time.

Lee Sora and SUGA previously collaborated on “Song Request,” a track composed by Tablo and released in 2019. However, what makes this story truly legendary is that while the song was dominating charts in South кσяєα and reaching No. 1 on iTunes in dozens of countries, its very own singer, Lee Sora, had absolutely no idea about its success for nearly two years.
In an interview, the veteran singer explained that she simply did not like talking about work. As a result, even her own family had no idea about the song's chart achievements or her collaboration with SUGA, and never brought up either topic with her. Having lived almost completely “disconnected from the world,” she only learned the news nearly two years later, when she was contacted by a television program's writer. That was when she was finally stunned to discover that “Song Request” had reached No. 1 in 51 countries worldwide.
Upon learning about its success, Lee Sora felt deeply grateful for SUGA's contribution. To express her appreciation, even if belatedly, she gifted the rapper a large-format Punk Rock photo book that she treasured dearly and had purchased in the UK. Later, when mentioning him on television, she also shared a heartfelt message: “SUGA, thank you so much. Fighting! I'm always rooting for you, for BTS, and for SUGA too”.
Interestingly, there is another touching story behind the creation and success of “Song Request.”
The song was originally written by Tablo, with SUGA participating in the recording process around 2016–2017. However, it took more than a year, nearly two years, before the track was finally released for various reasons, including Lee Sora revising and re-recording her part several times. During that waiting period, SUGA's musical style and approach to performing had also evolved. Feeling that his earlier recording sounded too youthful and aggressive compared to who he was and his style at the time, the rapper took the initiative to ask Tablo if he could re-record his rap verse. The version eventually released was this newly recorded version.
What is particularly surprising and worthy of respect is that even after completing his part, SUGA continued following the song's progress for an entire year. He even proactively asked to re-record his verse to make sure it better suited the track and contributed to a more polished final product. This reflects his genuine love and serious pαѕѕion for music, his dedication to his work, and his strong sense of responsibility toward every project he takes part in.

Looking back, “Song Request” is more than just a successful collaboration that reached No. 1 in 51 countries. It is also a heartwarming story that has become legendary in its own right. Fans cannot help but marvel at the story:
