RM and V enlisted as active duty sol∂ιєrs in December 2023. While RM served in the military band of the 15th Division of the Army, V joined the Special Mission Unit of the 2nd Corps Military Police.
On June 10, 2025, RM and V completed their 18-month military service and returned to the arms of their fans. Although there was no special event for fans at the discharge location, the two had an "unforgettable" greeting through the кσяєαn media.
Not only that, like Jin and j-hope's tradition, RM and V also came to meet ARMYs online right after returning to HYBE headquarters. The two sat in front of fans with a strong appearance after a year of service, adding pride in their majestic military uniforms.
On the broadcast, RM honestly expressed his mixed feelings after being discharged from the army. While he was happy to return to his idol life, he also missed his comrades and the military life for 2 years: "I lay down at 2 am yesterday and cried a lot. My face was very swollen."
On the other hand, V said, "I shed tears when my seniors were discharged, but I didn't shed tears when I was discharged," showing an emotional state that was opposite to RM.
It is noteworthy that when recalling his time in the army with many memories, RM suddenly mentioned "the duty of a composer". Even when he was in the barracks, he was still worried about composing new songs, but this duty has not been completed for the past 1 year.
The leader said: "I didn’t create or write anything for one year and a half. I tried but i couldn’t do it because of negative thoughts. It’s the first time I have not made any (music) for so long. I’ll try to make good music for you to show you we are back". Meanwhile, V sat next to him and was like same, me too.
However, he continued saying they’ve been on a long break since 'Yet To Come' October 2022 but have made plans for new things. While the results may not be immediate, they’re recharged and will work hard to create fun content making sure everyone knows they're back.
In a previous media interview, when asked what they wanted to do most after being discharged from the military, they immediately chose “perform”, "return to stage", showing how strong their idols’ will is. Fans are also happy and looking forward to their new songs in the future:

Now, BTS only has Jimin, Jungkook, and SUGA left to reunite. Jimin and Jungkook will be discharged on the 11th, and SUGA will be discharged on the 21st. When all BTS members are discharged, they will be a complete group for the first time in three years.
