Social media opens up a space for idols to connect with their fans, but it can also be a source of controversies and scandals. Every small action an idol takes online can be scrutinized and quickly spread. A single like, comment, or share that seems harmless can easily become a topic of debate on the Internet.
This is especially true for the members of BTS, particularly V. Since acquiring his personal Instagram account and becoming one of the most-followed K-pop idols on the platform, every move he makes has been under the spotlight.
Two incidents involving V’s Instagram have previously caused major social media stir: one time when he α¢¢ι∂єитally followed Jennie due to Instagram’s “suggested accounts” feature, and another involving the account of T.O.P (BIGBANG). Although V unfollowed immediately in both cases and hinted that it was a mistake, he still faced considerable negative criticism from the public.
Recently, even though V has not made any similar mistakes, his Instagram account became embroiled in another unreasonable controversy. It started with a fan’s social media post compiling several photos that V had liked, captioned: "Taehyung liking pretty women posts with his own IG account".
One of the posts included a photo of actress Kim Go-eun (posted in December 2022) taken by photographer Hong Jang-hyun, who had previously collaborated with V. Another post featured actress Bae Suzy, shared in July of this year when she attended the Celine Fashion Show in Paris as a brand ambαѕѕador alongside V and Park Bo-gum.
However, negative comments soon began to appear under the post, accusing V of liking only posts about “beautiful women” on Instagram, including famous South кσяєαn actresses. Some social media users claimed that his actions were inappropriate. Some even went so far as to suggest that V had “bad intentions” or exhibited “unusual psychology.”
These allegations were unacceptable, and ARMYs immediately spoke out to defend the idol, αѕѕerting that he has the right to privacy and the freedom to interact with any content on social media. It is also worth noting that these celebrities are either friends or professional contacts of his.
In addition to defending V and refuting the unreasonable accusations, fans also demanded that the OP revise the post. They pointed out that scrutinizing V in this manner is an invasion of privacy and could lead to malicious rumors.
Some fan comments related to this issue include:
