Since BTS returned from military service, many stories about meeting them in real life have been shared within the fandom — and even by non-fans. However, perhaps none has been as hated or controversial as the story shared by the TikToker below.
At first, she drew attention by teasing about an encounter with Jungkook at a gym, but as the truth gradually came to light, fans became frustrated with how she tried to gain fame off the idol and blatantly lied.
Specifically, a woman in Los Angeles, who owns the TikTok account @dazzlingbbi, uploaded a video hinting that she had “shot her shot” at a handsome guy in a gym, only to later find out that he was a member of a famous K-pop boy group. Naturally, the story grabbed fans’ attention — especially ARMYs, who immediately suspected that the person in the story was Jungkook.
This was reinforced when the TikToker later shared a full “storytime” about her fateful encounter after many netizens requested it. In a 4-minute video, she described the man who caught her eye at the gym as “wearing all black,” “mysterious-looking,” and “cute-faced.”
These descriptions lined up with photos of Jungkook at the gym previously shared by V or bystanders.
She also recounted how the conversation started — and her attempt to ask for his number, which would later spark controversy. According to her, they exchanged a few glances during their workout session, and eventually bumped into each other while trying to pαѕѕ through the same exit. She took the chance to strike up a conversation and tried to ask for his phone number — but he politely declined.
After he left with his friend, another man at the gym approached her, showed her a photo on his phone, and told her that the person she had just spoken to was “[beep]” from “[beep]” (famous Kpop boygroup). The TikToker emphasized that she had no idea who he was until this one told her, and she had only vaguely heard the group’s name before.
Later, even though the woman refused to reveal the idol’s identity or the gym location — saying she didn’t want to put him in danger — she “liked” several comments from viewers guessing that it was “BTS’s Jungkook.” From that point on, ARMYs focused on the woman and uncovered several suspicious details.
They pointed out that she had two social media accounts, one of which had many liked videos about Jungkook — proving that she clearly knew who he was before the alleged encounter. Based on this, ARMYs accused her of deliberately trying to approach Jungkook and ask for his number when she met him at the gym. Some even speculated that she might have followed him to orchestrate the “random” meeting.
In response to the accusations, the TikToker denied everything and argued that she never explicitly said the man was a BTS member. But even if it was not Jungkook, she was still criticized for using the situation to gain attention. Netizens pointed out that she intentionally made the idol in her story sound like Jungkook, liked comments suggesting it was him, and thus drew more attention to herself.
The TikToker has now become the center of heated controversy to the point where she had to temporarily deactivate her account — though her previous videos continue to spread online, receiving many comments:
- Stop lying you already knew who he was. What do you think we’re stupid
- her pretending she didn’t know him when she literally has a bunch of his videos reposted on her other acc
- She really said let me vibe and he said nope not today haha. But I even can't believe in her story after knowing that she actually knew he's Jungkook
- The fact that she says, she won't mention the gym name cause she doesn't want to put him at risk but at the same time spreading her story w/ him on social, saying that this person has tiktok & that she felt humiliated. Gurl if you felt humiliated, why on earth are you posting it?
- Only people who are deep into Kpop would mention the “crazy fans” and “gym life at risk” thing. & all kpop fans know how Jungkook looks. The two other girls who didn’t know kpop and had BTS members in the background of their gym videos never made it a point to diss fans.
- Dont give it attention. the story is fake αѕѕ sнιт, someone found her second account which had jungkook videos saved from years ago
- What if it's all made up bro... Like seriously!!?? Don't you guys think? She might be just trying to come up with a story to gain attention or moreover followers .
- She reposted Jungkook's videos on her other account a long time ago, so she def knew him and pretended not to. It's so scary
- So you ‘α¢¢ι∂єитally’ ran into him, asked for his number, got rejected, and after being exposed, you said like you’re the victim? Girl, please
- Funny how she claims she didn’t know who he was, yet likes comments pointing out it’s Jungkook. That’s not ‘innocent,’ that’s clout-chasing.
- Acting like a random coincidence, but somehow sharing every detail to make sure we all guess it’s him… This isn’t naive, it’s calculated
