Each BTS Member Has Their Own Way Of Coping With Some Fans Leaving The Fandom

The love fans have for their idols is essentially no different from any romantic relationship. Originating from attraction and admiration toward the other party, fans can maintain their love for a single idol for a lifetime without ever breaking apart. However, that affection may only exist for a certain period of time. This is simply a natural progression in life.

In particular, the entertainment industry changes every day; countless new idols debut every year, trends constantly shift, and human nature is to keep searching for what feels more suitable for oneself. Therefore, it is not surprising when one day some fans decide to leave a fandom.

Even the ARMY fandom—known as one of the most devoted and loyal communities to BTS—is not immune to this natural rule. And in fact, the BTS members themselves are always aware that fans may leave at any moment. But what stands out most is how each member reacts differently to such situations, offering touching reflections as well as honest ways of coping.

Most recently, the fandom faced serious turmoil when a considerable portion of fans - most of them are K-ARMYs - held distorted viewpoints. They complained about BTS not releasing group content in 2025 even after finishing their military service, accusing them of owing fans and threatening that “domestic” fans would leave. Even during RM’s latest live broadcast, they flooded the chat with negative comments.

After RM explained that although he wanted to come back sooner, there were certain reasons—ones he could not disclose and did not have the right to disclose—that led to BTS only being able to start activities next year, the leader also openly expressed his belief that: “The people who used to like us, and then disliked us later might even return when we do well. We'll be working with that sort of mindset.”

He also added: “Anyways, since there are many types of people watching, I know that not everyone can feel the same. I'd be grateful if you understood that, but even if you don't, there's nothing I can do. I will fight and push forward with my will and love.”

Meanwhile, for fans who have been patiently waiting, he sincerely expressed: “I care about you guys and I love you, so, assuming that you guys love me too, assuming that you have affection for me, I will do my best to make sure we get through this. Sincerely apologize for making you guys wait so long. We have our reasons, and we can't comeback until we put out something we're satisfied with. I'm sorry that this ends up sounding nothing more than an excuse. But we will definitely come back.”

As for Jungkook, when placed in a similar situation, he responded in a remarkably mature and sweet way. He found nothing surprising about fans coming and going, and said he has learned to accept such situations. He even bravely said goodbye to those who had left the fandom: “There are some of you who may have already left. But I still want to thank you all no matter when you used to love us. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing all those moments with us.”

But what came after was truly surprising! Jungkook assured fans that they could leave anytime they wanted, but one thing would never change—the fact that he and BTS would always be there whenever fans needed them: “I’ll always stay here. Whenever ARMY wants to see me, you can come here anytime. Also when you have to leave or when you want to leave, you can leave at any time. whenever you want. But as long as you remember this, I will always stay here.”

About Jimin, compared to RM and Jungkook, he seemed to react more humorously, as shown clearly in an episode of the famous YouTube show “Pixid Impostor.” The situation he faced involved meeting someone who was currently a Stray Kids fan but used to be an ARMY.

When meeting Jimin at the end of the episode, the STAY was extremely flustered and honestly admitted that she had once been an ARMY, and that the first concert she ever attended was a BTS concert. In response to this confession, the idol immediately reacted urgently: “Where have you gone now? What are you up to? We have to take her back.”

Not only that, Jimin decided to send a spontaneous video message to Felix of Stray Kids in hopes that he would understand his wish to “bring her back” to his fandom. Jimin said: “Yongbok-nim! I’m not taking her from you… She left home so I’m just taking her back for a bit. Please be understanding.”

Although the members’ reactions may differ, the common thread is that all of them show great respect toward their fans. Even toward those who are preparing to leave or are no longer ARMYs, the members still treat them with respect. They even maintain a generous attitude to welcome back those who return.

Witnessing these reactions from the members, many fans confessed they could never bring themselves to leave such wonderful people. They also note that only fans who have legitimate reasons to leave deserve respect from BTS and fellow fans. As for toxic cases, fandom and BTS never feel regretful or welcoming toward them again.

The departure of a portion of fans does not shake the fandom; instead, it helps BTS and ARMY realize the true value of the relationship between idol and fan. BTS has always emphasized respect, positive energy, and genuine affection, and the fandom also seeks to maintain an environment where those values can be fully protected.
