BTS’s Statements Draw Attention Following News Of ENHYPEN Member’s Departure

A few hours ago, the fan community—and above all, ENHYPEN’s fans—were shaken when BELIFT LAB released a statement announcing that Heeseung would be leaving ENHYPEN, pursuing activities as a solo artist, while the group would continue promoting as a six-member team. The company explained that after a long period of discussion, they recognized that Heeseung has developed a clear musical direction for his personal career, and therefore decided to respect the artist’s individual artistic path.

Shortly afterward, Heeseung also posted a handwritten letter confirming his departure from ENHYPEN. In the letter, he expressed deep appreciation for the memories he shared with the members and affirmed that he will always support the group’s future journey. The idol also announced a new chapter in his musical career as a solo artist under BELIFT LAB, marked by the release of an upcoming solo album.

Following the news, many netizens expressed ѕнσ¢к, commenting: “Is this a prank,” and “I am unable to understand why can’t he pursue a solo career while being an ENHYPEN member? I hope this is HEESEUNG’s DECISION out of his own FREE WILL & not a manipulation.” Meanwhile, ENGENEs expressed sadness over losing their OT7 lineup: “The only thing that saddens me is that I didn't get to see them as 7,” “it's always seven or nothing,” “MY HEART CAN'T ACCEPT IT, enha will always be 7,” and more.

When mentioning OT7, some netizens pointed out that after Heeseung’s departure, BTS is now almost the last remaining OT7 lineup in K-pop. More broadly speaking, BTS is one of the very few K-pop groups that has managed to maintain its full seven-member lineup after 13 years of activity—even after going through nearly three years of interrupted group promotions due to mandatory military service.

At this point, statements from BTS about the secret to maintaining their group began circulating again. In particular, a pαѕѕage from BTS’s latest interview with GQ, published in the middle of last month, was widely shared. In the interview, BTS stated clearly: “All of us cherish the team more than our individual selves. We debuted as a team, and that is our identity.”

In a previous international interview, RM honestly admitted: “All seven of us are different, you know. We are really very different… I describe it like this: it’s like we’re rowing the same boat but looking toward different places. We have different personalities, we’re good at different things and bad at different things…” But in the end, he concluded with a similar idea to what was mentioned in the GQ article: "Because we're in this team, … we’re achieving things together under the name of BTS that we couldn’t do otherwise.”

On the other hand, as BTS prepares for their comeback in the spring of 2026, RM admitted that disbandment had once crossed the members’ minds. However, he explained: “The reason we’ve kept the group together until now is the love between members, and so much love and respect for you guys. I love you all. I hope you understand that.”

ARMY is another crucial element at the core of BTS’s unity, helping them overcome the “selfishness” that has affected many other groups and fandoms. In the latest trailer released by Netflix to promote “BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG,” RM clearly stated: “We promised our fans that we'd be back,” and “Seven together, we can do anything. Keep swimming.”

Based on what BTS has expressed, fans believe that the so-called “K-pop ¢υяѕє,” the “7-year ¢υяѕє,” or even a prediction from five years ago—in which a fortune teller claimed ENHYPEN would “drop out” and that “there won’t be any more members”—does not necessarily lead to the breakup of ENHYPEN’s lineup or other K-pop groups. The core issue lies in the unity of the members’ will and the balance between individuality and the collective.

Not only ENHYPEN but most K-pop groups find it very difficult to achieve this balance—except for BTS. Even BTS themselves needed many years and numerous discussions to reach the level of unity they have today. Therefore, while ENHYPEN and Heeseung’s new decision may be understandable, the ѕнσ¢к felt by fans is unavoidable.

Meanwhile, ARMYs expressed gratitude toward BTS for reuniting and entering their 13th year while still remaining a complete OT7 lineup, saying: “13 years and still OT7. I’m so grateful for BTS", “In a world where groups keep changing, BTS stayed seven", “I’m so thankful they chose the team every time", "No matter what happens in K-pop, BTS will always be seven", “Thank you for coming back as seven. That’s all we ever wanted",...
