BTS’s Hilarious App Mishaps Made Them Think They Were No Longer Famous

If someone were to ask today, “Which K-pop artist is currently the most popular?”, the answer would undoubtedly be BTS. Although the group had a three-year hiatus due to mandatory military service and only officially reunited in June this year, there’s been no sign of their popularity cooling down.

According to a News1 survey, BTS received the most votes among 34 кσяєαn music industry experts when asked about the most anticipated artist of 2025. Meanwhile, data from the кσяєα Business Reputation Research Institute shows that BTS has consistently ranked in the top 10 of the boy group brand reputation index over the years.

Not to mention, in the 2025 Overseas Hallyu Survey, BTS still holds the top position across Asia (19%), the αмєяι¢αs (34.2%), and Europe (28.7%)—numbers that are not easily achieved by any group at this time. This further proves that there’s absolutely no sign of being “past their prime”, and the group has never ℓσѕт its leading status in the industry.

While this may be obvious to outsiders, it seems BTS members themselves aren’t always so “certain” of their standing. They’ve questioned multiple times, “Have we ℓσѕт our popularity?”—in reaction to some rather ironic social media mishaps that have now become legendary stories within the fandom.

Jin appears to be the first member to join the “doubting our fame” club after sharing a hilarious mishap during a past livestream. “You know what, there’s a funny story behind this livestream. Usually, the staff are the ones who manage the camera. When I want to go live, they come and set it up for me,” he began.

However, when the idol tried to handle the tech himself, soмєтнing went wrong: “When I turned the camera on, no one came in to watch.” For a full minute, Jin was genuinely flustered, thinking he might no longer be famous. “Then I started thinking, ‘Come on, man. Maybe BTS is past its prime.’ My fame is gone. One full minute into the livestream, and not a single viewer. I thought surely after a minute, at least 100 people would join, right? Even if the internet was laggy, I still expected a few people. Where did everyone go?”, he said.

Eventually, Jin realized he had α¢¢ι∂єитally turned on the Rehearsal Mode of the livestream app. Turns out he had been talking to himself the entire time, quietly panicking over the thought that he might not be popular anymore.

Thankfully, BTS’s eldest figured out how to properly launch the livestream: “A tech-savvy person like me managed to make it work”—reαѕѕuring himself that BTS was far from being forgotten.

Following Jin’s incident, V became the second “victim” of Instagram Live. Even as the most-followed кσяєαn male idol on Instagram, he momentarily thought no one cared about him anymore.

In a recent livestream, V appeared visibly nervous and asked fans: “Hey guys, can someone leave a comment so I can see it?” Unbeknownst to him, he had α¢¢ι∂єитally disabled the comment feature—so although ARMYs were watching, they couldn’t say anything.

He carried on with his adorable, slightly flustered expressions, confused by the silence. After turning the live on and off several times to no avail, V ended up dragging Jungkook and RM into the broadcast. The result? All three just stared at each other in total confusion—plus, Jungkook α¢¢ι∂єитally exposed his secret Instagram account in the process.

While these incidents may have left Jin and V a little shaken, fans were absolutely delighted. Despite being global superstars, these guys still have wonderfully goofy, down-to-earth moments that only make them more lovable.

Looking back on these hilarious memories, ARMYs commented:

- Jin talking to himself on rehearsal mode thinking BTS fell off is peak comedy

- Taehyung: ‘Why is nobody commenting?’ ARMYs in the chat: screaming in silence

- These men are unserious. Millions admire them for their global fame, yet they think they’re past their prime.

- Jin having a full existential crisis over a livestream glitch. He’s just like me fr.

- BTS thinking they’re not famous anymore. pls they’re so unserious I love them

- Not Taehyung dragging JK and RM into his panic just to realize he muted the whole fandom

- Imagine being THAT famous and still wondering if people forgot you after 1 minute. I’m crying

- These legends could sneeze and trend #1 worldwide… but sure, let’s panic after 60 seconds of silence

- Give Jin a tech support hotline immediately. Man was about to retire after 1 lonely livestream
