When it comes to the most popular mobile phone brands in the world today, iPhone and Samsung clearly top the list. Together, these two brands account for nearly the entire market share of the industry, and their phones are considered the best. Therefore, they are also highly favored by celebrities — including BTS.
In particular, in 2020, BTS signed an endorsement deal with Samsung and promoted various products such as the Samsung Z Flip 4, Samsung Galaxy S20+ BTS Edition, and Samsung Galaxy S22, among others, making them sell so well that Samsung became a direct competitor to iPhone.
Moreover, BTS is also widely known as some of the most dedicated endorsers, constantly using and praising Samsung phones whenever possible. Therefore, it’s no surprise that all members of the group own at least one Samsung phone.
In particular, RM, Jin, Jimin, j-hope, and SUGA are the members most often seen using Samsung phones to take selfies for social media. Some of their everyday moments also show that Samsung phones are their main devices — and that they are enthusiastic fans of the brand.
However, in recent years, as the contract between BTS and Samsung has gradually come to an end, the fact is that a few members of the group have switched to using iPhones. Therefore, BTS is now divided into two camps: Samsung users and iPhone users.
It cannot be denied that idols may own more than one phone — some probably use both brands. But through the most recent photos where they’ve revealed their phones, it’s possible to categorize them into the two user groups.
First, the members who are still using Samsung are Jin, SUGA, j-hope, and Jimin.
For years, Jin has been well-known for using the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Thom Browne Edition. He’s a loyal fan of Thom Browne, so it’s no surprise that he loves and frequently uses this product line. Meanwhile, he's recently seen taking photos with the Galaxy S25 — it seems he has replaced his old one with the newest model.
Similarly, j-hope has proven himself to be a big fan of this кσяєαn phone brand, with plenty of selfies taken on Samsung Galaxy S Series phones through years.
While Jimin shares fewer selfies, most of them are from his Samsung Galaxy phone. In June of this year, when he attended Jin’s concert, he was spotted using a Galaxy S23+ Phantom Black to take pictures. The same phone was later seen during a live broadcast with three other members in July when the group was in Los Angeles.
Among all BTS members, SUGA stands out the most in promoting Samsung. He has been dubbed Samsung’s “golden ambαѕѕador,” as he constantly shows love for and promotes the brand everywhere, even during concerts.
During his “SUGA Agust D D-Day” concert, he often had small interactions with fans, such as taking pictures using their phones. But each time, SUGA asked fans to bring out their Samsung Galaxy phones — he only chose Samsung devices instead of iPhones. His slogan, “This is Galaxy, this is Galaxy. No iPhone, no iPhone,” even became iconic.
Next, the iPhone users in BTS are identified as three members: RM, V, and Jungkook, with the leader seemingly being the most recent convert.
In a live broadcast in early October this year, RM mentioned that: “I recently changed my phone, so my current phone feels a bit unfamiliar and I’m still getting used to it. I’ll naturally share later what kind of phone I switched to", sparking speculation that he had switched from an Android phone to an iOS device.
Later, during the wedding where RM served as host on the 11th, an orange iPhone 17 Pro Max — a trending color — was spotted in his hand, surprising netizens. Furthermore, the interface of RM’s Instagram Story post on the 12th also confirmed that he was using an iPhone (based on the font difference between his post and j-hope’s, which was made from a Samsung phone).
While RM is a newcomer to the iPhone camp, the BTS maknae line seems to be true Apple devotees, as they have frequently been spotted using Apple devices.
In a photo taken by a local resident in Los Angeles in 2023, Jungkook appeared to be holding an iPhone — version 12 or later. Jungkook has also been found several times over the years posting from an iPhone device, though he seemed to realize it and later deleted the posts.
Most recently, during the live broadcast when BTS visited their songwriting camp in Los Angeles in July, fans saw Jungkook using an iPhone 15 Pro Max. In addition to the iPhone, Jungkook also uses several devices from Apple’s ecosystem, such as a MacBook, iPad, and Apple Pencil.
However, besides the iPhone being his main phone, he likely owns a Samsung as his secondary device, since some of his selcas have clearly been taken with a Samsung phone.
V is similar — he is frequently seen using his iPhone everywhere and even more openly than other members. In 2023, the BTS superstar amused fans when he posted a few selfies but covered the phone brand with the word “Samsung,” leading fans to speculate that the phone underneath was actually an iPhone.
In later years, V became more comfortable revealing his phone brand, taking many selfies with his iPhone 16 Pro Max and a trendy Casetify case. In several candid photos taken by others, he was also spotted with his favorite iPhone — and occasionally an iPad or a MacBook.
Overall, just like most young people today, with the majority using either Samsung or iPhone, the BTS members are similarly divided. Meanwhile, fans continue to “battle” in this never-ending war!
