In a July interview with the YouTube channel Fashion Neurosis, RM opened up about one of the biggest challenges of touring as a member of BTS, saying, "On tour, sometimes you just can't go out because there are a lot of fans and its really hard to be on your own." His remarks quickly sparked discussions about the members’ privacy throughout BTS’s ARIRANG World Tour.
This was particularly evident during the group’s stops in Brussels, Belgium, Munich, Germany, and Paris, fяαи¢є, last month, when large crowds gathered whenever the members were spotted in public. Some even filmed them during their private time around the cities and widely shared the footage online, despite repeated requests from ARMYs to delete the videos and stop following them. At one point, V even had to raise his hand to cover the glαѕѕ of an elevator as local fans pressed their phones against it to film the members.
V himself had previously spoken out about hundreds of fans gathering outside BTS’s hotels at various stops on the tour, often staying there throughout the day and night. In a Weverse post at the time, he shared, “During tours, having time to visit good restaurants, walk around the streets, and freely enjoy the country is incredibly precious to me. I hope no one comes to the hotels anymore in the future. Please be understanding.”
And it appears that the members’ pleas have made a difference, especially as BTS resumed the North αмєяι¢αn leg of their tour in early August. The BTS members in general, and V in particular, seem genuinely proud that fans have listened to their wishes — and have even responded to that respect with some heartwarming gestures of their own!
Specifically, during a Weverse livestream on August 7, V shared a heartfelt message about respecting personal boundaries when interacting with fans. He explained that he and the other members deeply appreciate it when fans respect their private space during υиєχρє¢тє∂ encounters in public. When asked about chance encounters during their travels, V said he had noticed a clear change in the way fans behave, with most choosing not to approach the group.
“When I posted on Weverse asking people not to come looking for us outside our hotels, honestly, about 90 out of 100 people - even if ARMY happens to see us out on the street, they just pretend they haven't noticed us. They seem to want us to make as many memories as we can in their country, so they simply act like they didn't see us and keep walking. Some of them even deliberately avert their eyes when we cross paths”, V shared.
Although these may seem like small gestures, they have made BTS as a whole, and V in particular, feel incredibly touched, and they deeply appreciate those moments. In fact, this has even encouraged the members to sometimes be the ones to approach and greet fans first, rather than having fans try to approach them. He recalled: “It makes us feel so grateful that we're the ones who end up saying hello first: “Hi, “Have a good day." Sometimes we'll even shake hands. Moments like that are so heartwarming. So we're the ones who thank them".
He even shared a rather amusing story about a time when BTS and a fan happened to walk along the same street. The two sides said goodbye, only to realize that they were actually heading in the same direction. He recalled, “One time, we were even walking down the same street. We said, "Bye-bye," but it turned out we were both headed in the exact same direction, so that was pretty funny.” This simple, everyday moment shows that the most memorable encounters between artists and fans do not necessarily come from fans following them around or trying to get photos or autographs as keepsakes.
Taehyung’s latest remarks show that respectful behavior is noticed and genuinely appreciated. One fan wrote, “See! Respect their boundaries, and you might get a ‘Hi’ or even a handshake from them, with a smile.”
Many others also viewed V’s words as a gentle yet meaningful reminder that loving an artist does not mean invading their personal space. On the contrary, when boundaries are respected, interactions between BTS and ARMY can become more natural, sincere, and memorable. Fans shared a wide range of reactions following V’s remarks:
