BTS Delivers An Emotional Speech After Receiving The Presidential Commendation At The 5th Korea Good Donation Awards

On December 8, the 5th “кσяєα Good Donation Awards” ceremony was held at the Seoul Advertising Culture Center, where a total of 20 awards were presented, including Presidential, Prime Ministerial and Ministerial commendations. The “кσяєα Good Donation Awards” is an annual government-authorized award that recognizes corporations, organizations and individuals who promote a culture of sharing and empathy within local communities, thereby encouraging the expansion of charitable activities across the nation.

This year’s recipients came from various fields and have consistently and systematically contributed to philanthropic activities at both local and national levels. Among them were seven individuals and 13 corporations or organizations, and BTS was one of the 20 honorees.

Most notably, BTS was one of only two honorees—alongside Samsung—to receive a Presidential Commendation, the highest form of recognition. This commendation acknowledges BTS for their global “Love Myself” campaign, which has helped spread a culture of sharing on the international stage. With this award, BTS also became the first music artist to be officially commended by the President for positive contributions to charitable causes.

On December 9, through their agency, BTS expressed their thoughts on receiving the state honor: “We feel a great sense of reward that the ‘LOVE MYSELF’ campaign has had a positive impact on our society. Rather than thinking of this award as an award given to us, we think of it as encouragement and support for everyone who resonated with the message of ‘Love yourself and love the world’ that we spread through the campaign. We especially want to dedicate this honor to our fandom, ARMY, who created the campaign with us. We will continue to strive to be a group that contributes to warm and healthy change.”

BTS’s view of the award as a form of encouragement for everyone who believes in the value of love and compαѕѕion gives the message of “Love Yourself” even deeper meaning. Moreover, by specifically mentioning ARMY, BTS not only expressed sincere gratitude toward their fandom, but also demonstrated humility and appreciation for the collective achievement. It further shows that the campaign has gone beyond music to become a social movement with lasting influence.

Meanwhile, BTS became the first K-pop artist to sign an official partnership with the кσяєαn Committee for UNICEF in 2017 and launched the “LOVE MYSELF” campaign. The campaign targets children and adolescents in 155 countries and regions, promoting νισℓєи¢є prevention and psychological support. It has also provided mental-health programs to more than 100 million people worldwide.

BTS and their label BigHit Music have become the largest private partner of UNICEF in the field of global child protection, and together with fans, have raised approximately 9.2 billion won—equivalent to around 15% of the entire protection fund.

BTS has also continued to make large annual donations to various domestic organizations across different sectors, including education, healthcare, culture and even military-related causes. Several BTS members are long-standing participants in major charity networks such as UNICEF, кσяєα Honors Club and the Green Noble Club, among others. Importantly, their continued charitable efforts have inspired fans worldwide, contributing to broader public participation in philanthropy.

Ultimately, what truly matters is not the title or the certificate itself, but the persistent, quiet journey BTS and ARMY have taken toward building a better society—a journey that is now recognized, seen by the world, understood, and deeply inspiring.
