In January this year, immediately after BTS announced their ARIRANG world tour scheduled to run until 2027, the UK newspaper The Guardian published an article compiling economists’ αѕѕessments of the anticipated ripple effects on the global economy. They described it as “a global event capable of having a significant impact on city economies”.
A concert ticket typically generates more than three times its value in local economic activity. However, “these averages do not apply to BTS. They will far exceed those figures, and it is difficult even to estimate the scale of the economic impact this tour will generate”, Tourism Economics, an economic analysis firm specializing in tourism mentioned.
Timothy Calkins, a marketing professor at Northwestern University, even compared the North αмєяι¢αn leg to a series of economic impacts surpαѕѕing αмєяι¢αn pop star Taylor Swift’s 60-show tour—the highest-grossing tour in history, generating around $5 billion in direct consumer spending across the United States.

And just the first five BTS shows alone, based solely on ticket sales revenue, already prove that experts’ predictions are on track to become reality!
Specifically, in the article “BTS: UPDATED ECONOMIC IMPACT” published on AEC on the 17th, the author compiled and analyzed ticket sales data from BTS’s first five concerts held in South кσяєα and נαραи. The result showed that the BTS ARIRANG Tour has become the highest-grossing Asian tour with only five shows, generating an estimated $370 million.

This figure is calculated based on three categories: stadium concert tickets, Weverse livestream tickets, and cinema screening tickets.
First, official data shows that a total of 133,032 attendees were present across three shows at Goyang Stadium. KOPIS, South кσяєα’s official box office tracking system for live performances, estimated total revenue at $18,579,772.30.
This makes BTS’s Goyang concerts the highest-grossing shows in the history of Goyang Stadium ($6.23 million per night), surpαѕѕing Coldplay’s 2025 Music of the Spheres tour at $5.74 million per night. It also became the highest-attendance concert series by a K-pop artist in кσяєα.

Next, all three nights were livestreamed on Weverse and screened in cinemas worldwide. On just the second day, BTS recorded 4 million Weverse views in a single day. Big Hit has not clarified whether this figure represents unique users or includes repeated logins due to technical issues. A more conservative and reasonable estimate suggests around 1.5 million paying viewers per show. Over three nights, total paid views reached 4.5 million tickets.
With a base price of $42.50 per stream (the lowest viewing tier), this translates to an additional $191,250,000 in online streaming revenue for the three Goyang shows.
There is no official report yet on cinema attendance. Again, using a conservative estimate of 500,000 viewers at an average ticket price of $15, cinema screenings would generate $7.5 million.
The author reiterated that "these are deliberately very conservative estimates" before concluding: "BTS’s three-night Goyang stand appears to have generated approximately $217.35 million in gross revenue."

And that’s not all—the two recently concluded Tokyo Dome shows come next! With two sold-out nights at Tokyo Dome, each with a capacity of 55,000 and an average ticket price of $175, direct ticket revenue amounts to $19,250,000.

Similar to the кσяєα concerts, both Tokyo nights were also livestreamed on Weverse and screened globally in cinemas. Assuming 3 million Weverse stream tickets at $42.96 per view (the lowest price tier), this would generate an additional $128,880,000. Adding another 300,000 cinema tickets at an average of $15 each contributes $4,500,000.
The estimated total revenue for the two Tokyo Dome shows is $152,630,000.
Thus, combining all five shows, the estimated total revenue reaches $369.98 million!
To put this into perspective, Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour (2017–2018), which included 60 shows in North αмєяι¢α and over 200 shows globally, reportedly generated $367 million. Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour required 30 North αмєяι¢αn shows to reach approximately $360 million.
Stray Kids’ dominATE World Tour is estimated to generate around $320–325 million across 54 shows. BLACKPINK’s Born Pink World Tour—one of the highest-grossing tours by a girl group in history—is believed to have earned $331 million from 66 shows.

In other words, these major artists typically earn between $330–360 million across full-scale global tours of more than 50 concerts—already considered top-tier industry benchmarks. Yet BTS, with just the first five days of an 80-show tour, is already approaching—and potentially surpαѕѕing—those figures. The seven K-pop superstars are truly operating on an entirely different level!
